Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Honestly the the cheek of this post really is amazing.

Woolwich, despite having a very similar income to us, have finished 36, 23 and 24 points above us over the last 3 seasons.

The EL is as great, a night to cherish forever, but it’s absolutely natural for our fans to want us to address that imbalance and get back to both competing with and finishing above them.

It’s not “half glass full and half glass empty”, it’s that we’ve signed one first team starter this summer. We signed one first team starter over the previous 2 transfer windows too (Solanke). We have good young talent, no doubt, but we lack top end talent in our squad and it’s slightly frustrating that we don’t appear to be moving heaven and earth to the either bolster that, or close the gap on those cunts down the road.

When people mention Woolwich, it’s not out of some sort of jealousy or admiration, it’s frustration that the respective moves each club are doing are making it seem less likely that the gap will be closing any time soon.

There’s nothing petulant or irrational about that.
I'm sorry to have offended, sir! :adesalute:

It's just my opinion. It shouldn't count for much. :paraticiwink:

In my opinion this is where the squad should stand after a good window. Is it possible? Not in a million years, but whatever...

Outgoings:
- Ben Davies
- Yves Bissouma
- Rodrigo Bentancur (50/50 as to we should sell him, because I think he's a good player, but we can improve on him for sure, while getting respectable bids)
- Bryan Gil
- Manor Solomon
- Heung-Min Son
- Richarlison
- Alejo Veliz
- Brennan Johnson (needs to go but won't)

Loans (of players who have a chance to make it at Spurs):
- Min-Hyeok Yang
- Will Lankshear
- Alfie Devine
- Mikey Moore
- Jamie Donley

Incomings (of players who haven't become official yet):
- Morgan Gibbs-White
- Palhinha
- A striker to compete with Solanke (Sesko is the dream, but obviously we're not getting him)
- A LB to compete with Udogie

Vicario/ Kinsky
Porro / Spence - Romero/ Danso/ Dragusin - Van De Ven/ Vuskovic/ Takai - Udogie/ New LB
Palhinha/ Gray - Bergvall/ Sarr
Kudus/ Kulusevski - MGW/ Maddison - Tel/ Odobert
Solanke/ New ST

Maybe the Frank effect will be worth a few positions as well.

If Ange really was as bad a coach as people say, then hopefully the squad was just massively underperforming in the league and we're flattering to deceive.

Until season starts we just don't know.
None of us know until the season starts, but one can only hope that was the case.

A friend of mine who is not Spurs(wanker), thinks we will be one of the surprise packages of the season.

I hope he is right, but i don't share his optimism at the moment.

On the other hand i'm Spurs, optimism isn't really my thing.

Meh... The gap is a legit concern; but we were routinely hearing the same kind of crap when we were finishing above them... Ditto LFC.

Meanwhile our "nearly there" signings and links get written off as a myth; yet AFC's (Gyko and a mere "maybe" such as Eze) get considered 'in the bag' even if they've been dragging on all trf window...... Even Zubemendi dragged on all the way back to failure to complete in January.

(Ditto Man U in the case of Mbeumo...... I mean has that fucker finally held up a Man U kit yet? .....Spurs fans were declaring him a done deal a month ago! Same as Gyko.... Still haggling away; not complete.)

It's the double-standards that truly grind.

Great post. The "you support Woolwich" thing is very weird. It's natural that we feel jealous when they show a far greater ambition than us even though we are of a similar standing.
Imagine how pissed off Woolwich fans are of the window Liverpool are having. The far greater ambition thing is absolutely hypothetical until the window closes.

I'll never be jealous of that trophyless rapist enabling husk of a club and not should any real Spurs fan.

I suspect that the truth is somewhere in between as much as I've bemoaned that we haven't added much to a team that finished 17th

5th to 17th in one season suggests an anomaly and that the players were underperforming rather than shite.

But there's other variables like other teams underperforming in the season we can 5th and over performing when we came 17th.

Its going to be fascinating to see a) how Frank lines us up and b) how the players perform under his system.

I'm cautiously optimistic that last season was a complete anomaly but we still definitely need reinforcements.

I'm not convinced Palhinha is a better midfielder than Bissouma or Bentancur.

Why do we sign the most anti-skill Brazilian footballers possible

Gomes, Gilberto, Emerson, Paulinho, Richarlison

Moura was just ok

What is wrong with this football club

Palinha as an experienced squad member for the games you need a physical DM to break up play/interrupt transitions: :frankthumbs:

Palinha as our starting 6 when we're clearly in need of someone better on the ball: :franksnarl:
