Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I feel like I shouldn’t fall for this line anymore. I mean really, I watched some video that someone posted here last year going into some detail about how amazing this was going to be for Spurs and how everyone else was screwed. We are going to be able to take advantage of this and do all this business. And here we are, same as always.

Then, you hear “well, with Champions League, players can’t wait to play for you”, and it just hasn’t been the case. It wasn’t that way when we had the run of CL appearances, and it’s not that way now.

Instead, it seems to come down to ambition by our front office and scouts. Maybe we have all these amazing advantages, and maybe that’s all legitimate. But if they won’t bring them to bear, then it hardly matters.

Nah, we had Son in well before we started looking at Berahino. I think that ordeal was 2017-18 and Son came in 2015. I could be wrong on the years, because I’m too lazy to look it up.
CL football doesn’t matter to players as much as money, been that way for years. And the Berahino thing happened summer 2015, the same summer Son signed.

We've seen most of the squad in practice matches now and Tommy Frank should know who needs to be sold or loaned out and what positions need filling.

Mikey Moore definitely needs a loan, hasn't really shown anything in his time yet. Ajayi showed more in a 15 min cameo than Moore in 15 games.

It's rather simple and not worth losing our minds over what happened. MGW and his agent fucked up and Forrest had him over a barrel. I imagine it was as simple as sign a new deal and stay or leave and I'll have you and your agent in court and dragged through em.

Something obviously happened that shouldn't off and we obviously knew it as well.

Move onto the next one that type of player profile is what we need and we have 60m evidently we can spend right now so no excuse not to get it done now.

I better not hear any we need to sell in order to buy shit now. Go hit the market running. They were willing to splash the cash on this, so do it elsewhere.

We already wasted two weeks waiting. This club has had 14 days now to sort out the second choice and have it ready to go. Odds on that? Levy and ENIC will never change.

Anyone else starting to think Daniel was being economical with the truth when he said he wants to win the PL and CL .
I've no doubt he means it when he says he 'wants' to win the Premier League and Champions league. The problem is he thinks he can do it his way, not spend any money and coach mediocre players into Champions league material.

Despite his self appointed reputation as a deal maker, he's got a history of getting his pants pulled down when he spends big money - Ndomble, Los Celso, Richarlison, Soldado and these are just a few names, there's so many more - so it's unlikely he sees this as the way forward.

He's also doesn't seem to be able to bend the rules at all and puts profits before football.

It seems we are no longer just Tottenham Football Club, we are the sports division of an entertainment company.

We had Champions league this season by striking gold, but we may struggle to get it in the season's to come, so it feels like a massive wasted opportunity to kick on, and one that might not come again for a long time.

Poor Frank has got an absolutely massive job on his hands.

How Marinakis got through the PL due Diligence is anyone's fucking guess, but not sure why this current iteration of Chelsea makes your list, or Villa for that matter. And Newcastle should be top of your list but don't seem to be on it.

Chelsea are owned by an American consortium and while they might have pulled a couple "moves" to mitigate PSR, they are fundamentally just normal guys - ie not a human rights violating oil state - likewise Villa.

The PL tried to, rightly, block MBS/Saudi ownership of Newcastle but were bullied into accepting it by Johnson and Co for political reasons.
Some would argue that America is responsible for more human rights suffering in the world than the Saudis

Okay, the whole MGW debacle sucks. BUT someone fucked up and I'm not sure it was Levy - more likely on the part of MGW and his agents.

We need to move on and look at alternatives:
  • Kobbie Mainoo
  • Angelo Stiller
  • Harvey Elliott
  • Xavi Simons
If Mainoo doesn't have a future at Man United, I wouldn't mind us going for him. I think Thomas Frank could get something real good out of him.
