Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well, safe to say I got this totally wrong. We need a statement signing for sure. I don't know how they can pull it off, but a Leao/ Rodrygo type of signing (which we'll never going to get).
Me too. I felt the deal was essentially done, and that the radio silence was designed to give Forest the chance to line up a replacement and MGW a chance to leave as amicably as possible without pissing their fans off.

Was never on board with Richard Arlison Richard Arlison 's 'no deal' theory (I still believe there was some fire behind that smoke), but his analysis was far closer to reality than mine.

I find myself on the optimism train every transfer window and then find myself surprised that I'm surprised when it slams shut.

I need help.

I mean anyone who’s got half a brain and knows how the football transfer factory works can see how these things work. We clearly thought we had him, that information was disseminated, the next day Marinakis put a stop to everything and that information was disseminated.

Not sure what kind of conspiracy you think is being perpetuated?
This conspiracy theory is absolutely baffling, pretty obvious what happened here as you say.

I’ll meet you at this halfway house mate

There was almost certainly some interest in MGW from Spurs.

The extent of the deal and all the clickbait that populates around it just screams of engagement farming to me and my guess is that (again) Spurs real actions in the market after this will be much more like normal than going after established stars for 60m

Kudus was the big transfer this summer

A data-led approach is great and can work wonders.

Just not when Uncle Dan is the keyboard master and his search criteria is "free/contract expiring; wages under 60k pw" then filters it again by adding "aged 22 or under".
Every non rich club is data led.
Brighton are one of the few clubs that make it work and as a result consistently punch well above their weight. But they never win anything.

The one thing that guarantees success is buying top quality players on high wages. That's what wins you leagues.

Being entirely data led is a fundamentally flawed approach if you are really trying to win the top trophies.

Liverpool did prove there is a big club way to be data led.

They use data to build the conviction to spend big on targets the data gives them confidence in.

Thats not the type of data led Levy wants. He wants to be the Brighton or Brentford model that does data led to get players with a good resale value.

No conspiracy though.

It's amazing the glee you see from some posters that the MGW transfer collapsed. We miss out on a player that would have made a huge difference for us and, instead of being gutted, they're happy because it gives them something to bash the owners with.

Pretty pathetic...

ENIC defence force readying themselves for the fightback I see

What a load of utter, pathetic, weak minded nonsense

I and others like me were fucking DELIGHTED when news of this signing first broke. See mine and other like minded posts in the MGW thread for proof you total fucking weapon.
And each and every one of us is gutted, absolutely gutted, that it ain't no longer happening.

Levy could burn the fucking place to the ground and you'd be here saying "ooohhh, look at them using it as another stick to beat poor uncle Daniel with..ooohhhh. it's not fair.

You're absolutely pathetic. As is every wet wipe that agrees with your pathetic trolling bullshit

Dunno how I would feel if this was say Romero , MGW obviously wants out of Forest yet somehow ends up signing a 1 year
Extension , what not a new 5 year
Contract if he was serious - proper small club mentality from them , hope
The cunts go down

It reminds me of that summer when Modric wanted to join Chelsea.....Levy flatly refused, no chance of allowing that deal to happen, Modric was devastated but eventually accepted after the window closed and 1 year later he ended up in Madrid.

Don't know about anyone else I am more disappointed by the fact the original announcement claimed the deal was done and medical booked.

We can all be forgiven for experiencing (not my first) P.E. on hearing that news and the fiasco that followed can only be described as comedic though in the farcical sense.

The events leading to this conclusion will come to the fore eventually and if anyone on our side as indeed fucked up I expect them to held accountable.

Another matter I'm curious about is the deets of his new contract and what made him sign so quickly when he had held out for nearly 12 months despite being offered nearly double his wages....unless that info is also BS of course.

Shame really I for one really rated him as a player and one things for sure this will certainly add some spice to our coming fixtures with them...can't wait.

The combination of watching us struggle against Wycombe and Luton, the mounting injuries, players pulling out 20 minutes before kickoff, and the complete lack of any identifiable style of play is soul-destroying.

We’re still seeing the same underperforming players putting in the same lifeless performances, and there’s no sign of progress. The one potential signing who could’ve genuinely elevated this squad has now decided to stay at Forest — just two weeks after it looked like he was ours.

All this, just weeks after we were supposedly getting £300m investment, Levy was stepping aside, and we were finally about to become competitive
.

Instead, we look like a club in limbo — stuck in neutral while everyone else moves forward.

It’s the hope that kills you.

That was never true. I told you all this at the time.
