Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The Notts Forest determined to keep the player and pay a wage on a 3 year contract that nobody would want to pay on a longer term 5 year contract.

You can criticise player and his agent, and their integrity, for tying him to Forest for another year or two before he gets sold. But both get a huge financial reward

Nothing to do with how spurs are run.

And no other PL club tried to hijack the deal which tells you that Forest applied the right measure of carrot and stick to keep player - otherwise losing both Elanga and MGW left them very vulnerable to being in relegation area

Post of the day.

I think we might find Mickey at left back and Vuskovic starting the season. I’m not against that but we need to sign a left back now. If we started the Burnley game with Davies at left back we should just shut the doors.

I think that Porro, Kulu, Bergvall, Micky, Udogie, Gray (possibly) would attract top clubs here or in Europe.

I don't believe Romero wants out despite showing his frustration, but time will tell on that one.

Bottom line is that by spending the most on a player, (transfer and or wages) doesn't guarantee success, it's about on whom that money is spent on.

You look at players. You see what makes them tick. It rarely changes.

You then decide on whether you will commit the transfer fee and wages, but I think our biggest issue is that we don't appear to be an attractive option.

To a large extent I am a firm believer that you earn the transfer and wages.

I didn't expect much this summer based on Levys comments when the financial were released but even I didn't think it would be this bad.

One new signing on the plane for the tour 2 weeks out from the start of the season.

Proper flat vibes.

What are the actual facts (not blinded bullshit) as to why we didn't sign MGW?

Where you present at the negotiations, or are you just assuming that it wasn't anything legally that we could do anything about, was it the players decision, or perhaps his wife didn't want to move given her medical condition?

The media drove this story, not the club, or anyone inside it.

Let's wait for the facts behind the players decision before jumping all over the club.
the only fact that matters is we didn't get him. do you think any other club of our size would've botched this deal to get a mid player from a mid club if it was important to them? even if it did become impossible would they have gone silent for two weeks with seemingly no back up plan?

if we're a club that wants to win and be competitive the most important thing this summer was resetting and reinforcing after a historically bad season and we've done virtually nothing. we've swapped werner for kudus

:mickyarm:

What I don't understand is why the Spurs (and wider) mouthpieces were saying for 2 weeks that we were still confident of the deal being done.

The only explanation is that Levy genuinely thought he had the upper hand and this would work out for us. And that's hugely worrying.

The guy is out of touch and the laughing stock of the rest of the footballing fraternity.

Who at the club stated this?

It came from the media, the same media that told us this a few years ago. I guess you believed them back then?

Thomas Frank has been absolutely sabotaged. To bluster all summer about a positive change and setting up for a new phase and then treat an established manager like this… it’s fucking sickening. This is an absolute dereliction of duty from Levy and Lange and I trust neither to be able to clean up the mess. We have genuinely set him up to fail.

We are a million miles away from the top 5 clubs. It's a massive worry how Manchester united sign players that are very good and we won the European cup and seem to go nowhere.
Man U are in shambles, fuck I know we're bad but we beat that lot 4 times last season, Diallo was probably their 2nd best player and they've signed a player that plays in the same position, they've got 4 players the manager has actively frozen from the squad that they won't get rid of. We're shit obviously but we're not that shit.
