Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I know , I was trying to come across as balanced and reasonable for a change. This debacle has Levy’s grubby finger prints all over it in my view .
Just waiting for Shady to get back from his annual brainwashing trip at ENIC HQ.
He should have plenty of fresh new verbiage to explain why our owners are the bestest ever.

I mean, I won't see it, because he's been on ignore for years but hey, the rest of you will enjoy it.

I’ve no doubt he does. But to think we are capable of doing so without what appears to be even the simplest of transfer plans, means he’s a complete fantasist. As are you, if you are holding him to his word. Particularly if you are one of those strange breed that heard him say that and convinced yourself he meant this season.

We should be in a position to challenge for the league, as we have the money and support to do so, but we appear to lack a cohesive plan to improve the squad. Heard a podcast last week involving the people behind Liverpool’s business and it was simple and enlightening at the same time. Plan for Summer in January and for January in Summer. Have 2-3 top targets for each position of weakness and the sign one of them. Whilst I’m not one of those that subscribes to the theory you can quickly buy a player, giving yourself six months to start chatting to agents of your targets makes sense to me.

Rather that than scrabbling around for deals that make fiscal sense only.

Doesn’t help we can’t settle on a structure or a staff to carry out any plans. Constant chopping and changing of managers, coaches, support staff make long term planning impossible.

Even if he didn’t mean this season, surely he’d at least be making an attempt to get closer to winning them with this transfer window?

We are acting like we’re shell shocked that big clubs actually spend money when they want to win

Damn

Have I made it that obvious !

I don't suppose you are bald by any chance ?

Not only am I bald, but my surname is Levy

He should be able to. All I read on here last season was about how high in the league we’d be with a “proper manager” and not a “fat fraud” in charge. We should all be expecting big things, without any new players.

Don’t subscribe to that myself, as I’m pretty sure our squad is, on the whole, not that talented and damn fucking lazy.

Well yes it just depends what people are expecting. Right now anything better than 8th is a good result based on what we have. Let's face it the difference between say 5th place team and 8th is going to be very small.

But will that be acceptable? Not by most especially if we get well beaten by the top 3 or 4 teams. But is frank really expected to compete with what we have?

Pl- no chance
Cl- no chance
Fa cup -unlikely
League cup- unlikely as we will prioritise the first 2.

So no trophies either. Its looking grim unless u accept top 8 and no trophy as a good season with what we have.

Well, I'd argue that we have quite a strong squad for the Champs League, albeit slight unbalanced. Already some wild assumptions (i.e. Dragusin, Son, Davies out), it's hard to see any other players that could be dropped....and I just realised I missed Bergvall off the list - so that's 9 player we need to drop - and I certainly can't think of one in the list below. Certainly explains why we threw big money at MGW - and suggests to be that EZE or Wharton will be our primary target in this window now.

Club Trained (1)
Austin
Association Trained (3) (maximum 4)
Maddison, Spence, Johnson

INTERNATIONAL (25 CL) (maximum 17)
Richarlison, Bentancur, Bissouma, Kulu, Porro, Romero, Sarr, Solanke, Udogie, Van De Ven, Vicario, Kudus, Kinsky, Danso, Tel, Vuskovic, Odobert, Bergvall

List B - Grey, Moore (looks like Moore is going on loan)

Drop from CL squad - Gil, Soloman, Taaki, Phillips, Yang, Davies, Son, Dragusin
Eze has virtually signed for Woolwich!!....back in your parallel universe you go!!....🤦‍♂️

There’s no way he meant this season. He’s not mental.

But yes, we appear to be without a cohesive plan and looking back, never seem to have one. Always a hole or two left in the squad. Always signing players later than most would suggest makes sense.

My firm and constant belief that the owners, directors, staff and managers of football clubs know more about how to run a club than the weirdo hive mind of a forum, is being shaken this summer. Clubs that we should be competing with seem to have their shit together and we just don’t. Why are they doing what they are and we aren’t? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Bare minimum we should have had an attitude that we would be the best of the rest, make 5th, put in a decent showing in the CL (quarters maybe) and push on from there the following season.

As it currently stands i cant see much above 7th, 8th, 9th and cup exits when we play anyone decent. 3 of our handfull of good players VDV, Romero and Maddison are very injury prone, our squad depth quality is poor. This team and squad is no way set up to have a good league season with CL football.

Oh My God Reaction GIF

Don't play with my emotions, is this true?

very.

to the point where (and i think I've told this story before) the first kit my ex-wife bought me was for my 40th birthday and it had 40 'Levy' on the back - bless her, she had no idea of the implication.

I wore it out twice to play squash, and both times the group following us, different both times, asked me why I had the chairman's name on the back of my shirt.
