Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lange is either a transfer ninja who is about to jump out of the bushes armed with Rodrygo and a katana, or he's absolutely stealing a living

Not sure if he's on the tour or not?

I'm leaning towards him winging it abit. He seems really good at those low key, young players from small clubs type transfers but thats it. Maybe he's not quite cut out for that high level kind of business.
I kinda see him as the guy thats always on the periphery. U know, u see him around the place at a distance, always on the phone but always slightly out of reach and you never really find yourself getting to talk with him and you presume its because he's working so hard.

Apparently frank wanted a chat with him before they set off for Korea, but when he arrived lange wasn't there to meet him.

Levy has kept him because he’s not a forceful character and will just suggest names and let Levy choose.

Ange would have had more say than Lange. Vinai probably already has more of a voice and he’s just arrived

I think it's fair to say we know more than shit about what goes on in the club, after all we have been watching this shit show for 25yrs.

Hard to move forward when we all know there is likely very little to look forward to regarding transfers over the next fortnight. Traditionally we do little business when away on tour and unfortunately we have brought a lot on tour that need shifting, despite the fact the sell before buy narrative is likely to resurface shortly.

It's extremely frustrating watching those who should be our rivals strengthen from positions of strength, while we, after one of our worst league finishes dawdle and mess up seemingly easy transfers.
Because we're not in the same position as our rivals. We've made abysmal performances for some time now and that also affects who wants to join us. I'm not saying we shouldn't try - I would also have liked to have had more incomings - but we can't just cherry pick whoever we want.

Also - and I know I'm a minority in thinking this - "sell before buy" is a very reasonable and economically responsible thing to do. I cannot blame somebody for doing that, though I also know that we're in a good economic situation and have money to spend. And even though the MGW transfer didn't go through, that actually showed that we're prepared to use money this summer. I'm certain that something will happen in the coming 7 days.

Finally, we also have to remember that Frank is currently assessing the squad. So what we believe are players who we need to get rid of, Frank might think have a role to play. For example, I'm not so sure Bissouma will leave the club this summer.

The two most expensive players we bought for Poch before he was 12 games away from the sack were Davinson Sanchez and Moussa Sissoko.

So crazy in retrospect.
We paid 48 for dav …. So could be argued he got backed … trouble is poch’s achilles heal …. Spotting a player

But compare that to pool who didn’t waiver from their pursuit of VVD for 70mil

They got a world class player that became a ‘cornerstone’ of title successes

We got a duffer that became a meme legend

Same year we let klopp get mane and of course we got sissoko

It’ was about who was serious about winning stuff

Well, I'd argue that we have quite a strong squad for the Champs League, albeit slight unbalanced. Already some wild assumptions (i.e. Dragusin, Son, Davies out), it's hard to see any other players that could be dropped....and I just realised I missed Bergvall off the list - so that's 9 player we need to drop - and I certainly can't think of one in the list below. Certainly explains why we threw big money at MGW - and suggests to be that EZE or Wharton will be our primary target in this window now.

Club Trained (1)
Austin
Association Trained (3) (maximum 4)
Maddison, Spence, Johnson

INTERNATIONAL (25 CL) (maximum 17)
Richarlison, Bentancur, Bissouma, Kulu, Porro, Romero, Sarr, Solanke, Udogie, Van De Ven, Vicario, Kudus, Kinsky, Danso, Tel, Vuskovic, Odobert, Bergvall

List B - Grey, Moore (looks like Moore is going on loan)

Drop from CL squad - Gil, Soloman, Taaki, Phillips, Yang, Davies, Son, Dragusin
Corrected your list.
UCL Squad of 21 can consist of maximum 21 Association Players + 0 HNG, 20 Assoc + 1 NHG, 19 + 2, 18 + 3 etc down to 4 +17 NHG. 17 is the maximum NHG players allowed.

Club Trained (1)
Austin
Association Trained (6) (maximum 21)
Spence, Davies, Gray, Maddison, Johnson, Solanke

NHG (23) (maximum 17)
Vicario, Kinsky
Porro, Udogie, Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin, Vuskovic, Takai
Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski, Bergvall
Kudus, Yang, Gil, Solomon, Odobert, Tel
Son, Richarlison

List B - Lankshear, Devine and Scarlett and most of the Academy players.

Current squad is 6 HG and 23 NHG =29.
Maximum allowed is 21.

So at least 8 players need to be chopped from NHG list.
Or potentially 7 NHG and Davies.
I can't see any other of the association players being left out.

That’s 9.

Gives us room to bring 3 more in

very.

to the point where (and i think I've told this story before) the first kit my ex-wife bought me was for my 40th birthday and it had 40 'Levy' on the back - bless her, she had no idea of the implication.

I wore it out twice to play squash, and both times the group following us, different both times, asked me why I had the chairman's name on the back of my shirt.
That's incredible

:dembelelol:

I'm assuming it's a coincidence and you aren't related to the great man ?

This guy bullshits but he’s right Millot is a great fit for whatever we wanted MGW for

Unfortunately looks headed to Atleti but they’ve spent shite loads already and maybe not able to get it done.

Either way, WTF is Lange doing? Where his list of alternatives?

How do you go from MGW to nobody or Paulinha?

If Millot goes Atleti, I'd happily take Griezmann off their hands, even if it's just the one year before he moves Stateside.

Forget his age, he's still a superb player who can do it all. I'd love him in that combo 8/10 role and I guarantee you so would our strikers...and defenders.

Could be our new Ginola in terms of aura and impact...on & off the pitch.

Sell before we buy is a fantastic strategy, if we didn’t change managers as often as I change socks.

Every time we do this, we give the players a clean slate. And we really shouldn’t. It’s fair to say that a number underperformed last season due to the tactical approach, but did many even really try to perform? I don’t believe so. Would many if our squad get in to Liverpool’s squad? No.

We should have been punting out players to all comers since January and be ready to act on purchases in the first week of the summer window.
