Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I might be clutching at straws, but, if we're comparing with the other big clubs in this window, it could be our change of head coach and other aspects of football administration. All seems to be for the better, but things will be bedding in.

I guess Frank and his coaching team are working with Lange to assess our squad and the up-and-coming young'uns before proceeding. Decisions must be made about Bissouma and Bentancur in particular, given their contract situation (while Son is rightly given slack), and Frank will presumably be central to this.

Then there's the small group of young players who might go out on loan, stay with the U21s, or maybe go into the U21 list of the PL squad, or the B List of the CL squad. Has Frank finished his assessment yet? It's a guess, but I'd assume he needs to see all players closer to full match fitness in the East Asian tour games.

There's also the bad luck of MGW, with £60m committed, and then not. Suddenly, with more money available, Frank has to work with Lange to look at the market anew.

The other big clubs, who have not changed manager, will have had a transfer strategy worked out some way in advance.

OK, end of straw clutchery...
I’d have hoped Frank would have a pretty strong knowledge of the squad before taking the job. However, I can see the lack of activity being due to him being new and wanting to evaluate the players before doing anything.

Which neatly brings us back to the fact we need to stop sacking managers. And stop giving players the good old clean slate.

Bayern spending almost what it would take to get Rodrygo to sign Luis Diaz for the same position definitely causes me to question whether Rodrgyo is actually available, but who knows.

And again, let me not let cynicism act as cover for the bare facts of the situation: we have more available financial capacity right now than the clubs you listed.
Not sure what Diaz is on there now, but Bayern’s wage bill was getting out of control, hence letting go of the likes of Sane and others they want to cut.

Them and Liverpool seemingly getting Isak I think rules them out.

Do I think we'll get him? No, I absolutely do not. He'll stay at Madrid for the year and get a big move next year. United will probably give him what he wants after a year of fixing their finances and we miss the boat, again.

Ignoring how we have not added any other vitally needed first team upgrades, how the fuck have we not even brought in a fucking left back yet?

If we go into the season with Davies, again, it's fucking totally embarrassing incompetence.
The ones who support his inclusion as well as accepting mediocre unproven players like Tel deserve what they get. Same as last season the ones who accepted Werner as a good squad option. The. You get acceptance of players like Oddebert but shit on Solomon who has done far more than him.

This is the biggest reason why we've had trouble with revamping the squad is that we're replacing the manager every 2 seasons.

Not expecting many to agree but I feel like at least since Conte left there's a bit more emphasis on building a functional squad (with completely unfunctional hamstrings) but again we're just at the start of that process and any sort of attacking star power is a million miles off peak Son and Kane so it's all just a bit underwhelming. Still looking forward to watching Kulusevski, Kudus and Maddison playing football though, if it's one thing I trust Frank to do is find a system that allows our best players to play.

I think he is playing us to get a better deal.
We will end up with some random goon, from Ligue 2 or 3rd tier of Albanian football.
The club replaces manager and backroom staff, and yet, while there are changes everything remains the same.
Nothing changes or will until real change happens at the top.
This season will be marginally better but that's it.

Agreed until Solomon. Which is a crazy take.

Without those Odobert goals, we don't win the EL, which is immeasurably more than Solomon contributed, and rightly shouldn't waste a squad place.

I don't think he wants a better deal, but look at the state of us and does he really want to go from winning and challenging for titles, to coming here with a rag tag squad? Plus, it'll require a record deal to get done and record wages, which is hugely unlikely.

Just wait a year, and clubs around Europe will have the means to get him that can match his ambition. Which is what I think will happen.

As you say, we'll splurge it all on 3 nobodies, who become deadwood in a year that we can't shift, because COYS, Daniel is too stubborn to sell at a loss that realistically reflects their value.

Winning the EL in may was a fantastic night, watching it with the family i was so pleased.
But I couldn't help think that, this is probably as good as it gets under Levy.
I don't think he really gets the Winning feeling/culture like genuine football people do.
When it got announced a couple of weeks ago the Kudus and MGW deals within a day of each other, I almost dropped my guard thinking the club was finally changing.
But after a few days I knew this deal wasn't happening along with Tottenham staying the same in this window as almost every other window.
No point in getting annoyed anymore, club is way behind the big boys and gap is getting bigger.

Pro-Ange propaganda back on the menu? That’s how you know the fanbase is on the floor right now.

Nevermind that, but nobodies like Villa, Newcastle and Brighton have come out of nowhere to be on par/ahead of us.

The EL was an anomaly, not the norm. Any team can win a one off cup. Wigan win the FA cup and got relegated for God's sake.

Any players we can get signed now will miss out on pre season so likely a slow start for them. No urgency at all. But I guess "Lange moves in the shadows" and "stop moaning, the transfer window is still open". Dig your head in the sand and pretend everything is fine, that's how "real fans" behave.
