Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Given a) we finished 17th in the league and, dubious explanations not withstanding, looked awful; b) we recently drew against Wycombe and Luton and looked toothless; c) it's two weeks since the MGW fiasco and don't appear to have any clear plan as to what to do with the £60m we evidently had earmarked for him; d) we have a Super Cup against PSG in two weeks; e) we kick off the new PL campaign three days later; and f) that, historically, very little transfer activity happens whilst Levy is out of the country, I don't think it's particularly unreasonable to ask why Levy is in Korea and not in his Batcave trying to sort shit out.

Spurs fans: "Levy should have nothing to do with signing players"

Spurs fans: "Levy should be signing players"

Never mind lads, only 2 weeks till we play probably the best team in the world, and only one first team player in.....it's all good......

This Is Fine GIF

Once Son has gone both Tel and Kudus will start.

I’m going to disagree with you on the phrase “in this day and age,” as it subtly diminishes past efforts.

There’s something entirely unpalatable about being mocked, ridiculed, and publicly hated by 60,000 vociferous individuals—especially in your own “home.”

No one’s ego is that robust.

I used to think the anti-Levy crew went a bit early, and I probably would have taken your side of the trade a few years ago… but maybe they were onto something.

I note that the ecotone of common ground suggests you’re not as pro-Levy as some posts imply….. When the clarion call sounds, I’ll put you on the list!

COYS
As long as the club is growing as a business and no buyer is meeting the valuation the owners have put on it, I don't think any amount of ridicule will make them sell. Especially in this day and age. They have pretty thick skin and are not going to sacrifice billions because their ego got hurt.

As for Levy, I'm neither for not against. I have posted many times that he needs to step back from the football operations and establish a world class team to run them. But at the same time I also recognize how far he has brought us compared to other clubs that were of similar size to us when he took over. Apparently this is anathema for the Levy Out crowd, who repeat the same arguments over and over and over again and never acknowledge anything good the current regime has done. It's this blinkered view that I make fun of and in their eyes, if I'm not against him and echo their feelings, well gosh darn it, I must be a Levy boot licker. It's quite Trumpian, actually, and pretty sad.

What a miserable lot you are

I mean FFS what are your everyday lives like?

Every player Spurs have currently is shit, every player the journos link us with are shit or unattainable

Spurs fuck this up, fuck that up, Levy this, Lange that

Thank fuck you lot aren’t in charge of this Club

If you are so miserable then don’t support the Club

You don’t sound like the lifeblood of a party yourself mate

I don't think there is another top club that spends its money as badly as we do......maybe Man Utd
We're the textbook embodiment of penny wise and pound foolish.

We spend loads, we just do it badly, and on the flipside our record of selling players is awful. Gareth Bale, Harry Kane, and to a lesser extent Kyle Walker, are doing ALL of the heavy lifting on that front in living memory.

It baffles me when I see supposed Spurs fans bemoan us as a selling club and only signing players for future sell on value, we've been dreadful at selling for years and the relatively small moment in time when we were really good and our players were coveted by others, we clung onto them until it was far beyond too late.

Eriksen, Dier, and Alli should have been ~£250m worth of income for the club, what did we actually get, £14m for the lot?

They do have phones and computers, you know.

The first one we want

The second one is because we accept the first one is impossible

Been plenty of interviews where ex managers and staff have said the opposite.

It might just be that Frank actually has an idea how to build a squad and isn't just signing players for a dopamine hit. As he said - it's private. Also, as pointed out a lot of times, we have been signing players in the shadows for a long time now.

There will be Lange, possibly Paratici, a whole team of people running through the motions for potential signings. I don't know why it is expected that Levy needs to be in a particular location for any one that. Like he is the only one with the key to the medical room

Frank isn’t building or signing anyone

Which is fair, but I still don’t buy that Lange only looks within our league.

As I said, there’s massive issues with our transfer business (ins and outs) but I’m not buying that the problem is as simple as only buying in our own league when we clearly buy outside of it, and tbh, I don’t mind us looking for prem proven players, what needs to change is the level of player we target.

There's also the fact that in the past few windows we've needed some HG players having lost Kane, Winks, Skipp, Dier etc...... Hense Maddison, Johnson, Grey, Solanke etc.
