I think Jack Pitt-Brooke said it best on VFTL the other day - we have to get back up to making sure we’re better than Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford this season, before thinking about Liverpool, City and the Scum.

Build a solid foundation, become a competitive team week on week, show that Frank is developing young players into PL stars, and then maybe next year some of the hottest players on the market may be interested in coming here even if they are not getting paid 200k plus per week.

I just don’t think there’s any way to short cut it without a nation state bank rolling us.

Correct, but the club must ensure those steps are taken.

We have a lot of young players thar might becije real PL stalwarts but they need on-fiekd guidance. I dont think the likes of Maddison, Bissouma or Bentancur provide that, right in the part of the pitch where it's most needed.

I’m not sure why the club always seems so slow to make important signings. Ok the MGW fiasco hasn’t helped in this window but it’s almost like we let all the bigger clubs get their targets out the way and go for what’s left on the market. I appreciate we don’t want to get gezumped but it seems small club mentality to me.

Put all our eggs in one basket with MGW instead of simultaneously lining up other deals (like Simmons) and now we are probably scrabbling around like dumb fucks.
