Only issue with that strategy is our inability to sell.

Don't know about you lot but the positivity of the final and appointment of a sensible manager like frank has pretty much gone. Season statrts in 2 weeks, we have made 1 good signing, have more injuries and got bent over by Notts Forrestts owner so not the best of times

I kind of sympathise with them for having to make something out of nothing, as there's no leaks any more.

I hate the circus that they perform in, though. As David Webb has explained before, they spend months and months getting ready for the summer window - scouting, analysing, enquiring. It is there the whole time. But when there's no matches on, the spaff a load of "links" out each day that are only there for the sake of writing something, and people take everything they say as gospel and get worked up about it all.

Wouldn't surprise me if Palhinha is just being hawked by Bayern and we're being mixed in as bait for other PL clubs to generate interest

Build a solid foundation, become a competitive team week on week, show that Frank is developing young players into PL stars, and then maybe next year some of the hottest players on the market may be interested in coming here even if they are not getting paid 200k plus per week.

Very valid post!

I am not saying that we shouldn't have been doing more. I think one prime-aged player if not two should have been signed by now.

But on the other hand, I am honestly exited and expecting more from MANY players that either freshly joined/returned or failed to live up to the expectations last season or just arrived into the mess that was our last season -

Vuskovic
Bergvall
Donley
Spence
Yang

Of course expectations to them are not what they are to some additions many of our league competitors have made.
Nor are they sure-thing.

But I can see that most of them in the list could potentially be starting XI players and perform incomparably to previous season. And if it happens even with some of them, it improves the squad. I don't buy it for one microsecond that 17th place would have been even close to actual ability level even with existing squad. And thus the claims "we need total turnaround, it's the side finished 17th in the league, don't forget" is totally out of touch with reality.
 
It's quite clear there was no big window planned (which we needed) given we're almost in August and Kudus is the only proper new signing we've made.

In contrast Chelsea, Liverpool and Woolwich all planned big windows and have gone about getting lots of high quality incomings sorted.

It's very unlikely we get 3/4 big signings done in the next month and as such the gap between us and top 4 will as big as it's ever been.

Honestly can’t tell with Palinha

No doubt Bayern want shot of him and his agent is using our name.

But I wouldn’t put it past Levy seeing him as an opportunity for that reason
 
Seems to me when we see an opportunistic deal we go.for it without all the noise of having to sell first

Yet when fans are demanding signings they trot out the have to sell first line...
