Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Great scrapper, including at the goalmouth, hardworking presser, all around good dude, but kind of a shocking pure technical attacking player for 65M though, is the thing.
I just feel we didn't offer him any service whatsoever, had two pretty big injuries in the season and ended up pressing for 3 men by the time Son and Kulu had lost the last ounce of energy/knee they had.

I feel I've seen enough to know he's a player, let's see what Frank does.

I understand why some are a bit underwhelmed with Palinha, but when I watched the game today I could so easily how well he would fit in.

He was excellent two seasons ago in the PL, that really isn't long ago at all. I was really hoping we could sign him last summer when he went to Bayern but he was out of our reach. He really was a top class DM. Less than 12 months later we are bringing him on loan.

I think this could be really astute business.

On the other hand though, a number 6 was supposed to be one of our key areas of need, and you'd have hoped we'd have spent big on someone really elite, and yet again we seem to be doing loan deals, and it always seems to me, like we are penny pinching all the time, when our rivals are going big.

So whilst I think it could be a smart signing, again I am underwhelmed by what seems like a distinct lack of ambition.

We have only signed Kudus for relatively biggish money, and he wasn't that expensive.

If we end up signing another two players after Palinha, for big money, then fine. But I want to see Frank backed, and that means spending some big money to sign other teams elite players to make us better.

Good signing Paulinha. May not be the no6 most wanted - but he is certainly a profile we don’t have in squad.

Hope is he has still got that sharpness from 2 yrs back. If he brings that form ,we have some player on our hands. He will free up likes of Bergvall Maddison

If you give him great service in the box (oh matron!) he'll fill his boots with goals, he's a quality finisher.

But that's a scenario in which the players providing the service are doing all the work and creating all the value. Richy would score those goals, Tel would score those goals.

What Solanke can elevate himself with is just those little scrappy moments from nothing, flicking on a teammate in transition, nicking a turnover while pressing, scruffing in a rebound, etc. He's got natural ability for that stuff. We didn't extract enough from that last season.

I will try to explain this failure just taking Sissoko as an example...

May 2016 - Mane comes to Spurs training ground ,very much open to move & play once again with Poch. We offer him 80k he asks for 130k a week. We drag it on hoping he will sign for Poch

June 2016 - Liverpool swoop in him and give him a salary of 110k a week and pay transfer fee 30m + 6m addon

31 Aug 2016 - After fuking around for the entire window, to appease Poch, Levy signs Sissoko on last day of window for.... 30m fee giving him 80k a week

In essence, we lose out a player who our manager desperately wanted to a rival who was finishing under us....because we were trying to squeeze out 1 to 2m from his wages...

Fast forward 5 years, Sissoko walks away on free transfer winning nothing....and giving away that pen in CL final to very same Mane.

On otherhand, Mane wins EFL cup, FA cup, PL , CL , Club world cup...and then gets sold to Bayern for 27m....

Failure of these transfers all have 1 underlying thing : We fuck around trying to penny pinch and let good players go to our rivals and then settling for 2nd or 3rd choice...who mope around for 4 years and go for less winning nothing....
That penalty decision in the CL final was a disgrace absolutely nothing Sissoko could do about that
Mane booted it straight at Sissoko's arm at point blank range got the super dubious penalty which in turn killed the atmosphere in the stadium and contributed to the worst champions league final ever played

That is an actual FACT

Judging by today’s very well organised defence and with Palhinha we might become very strong defensively but we going to badly need more creativity. Need another 10.

If were loaning a cm at good value(no signing fee) we are surely lining a more costly attacker to come in for when son is announced as leaving. It just stinks of compromise to help get another purchase elsewhere done imo.

What's everyone think?

Id say it could well be simons and id be delighted.

Rodrygos the dream.

That takes us from 17th to 10-8th.

Sorry ... !? You think if we signed Palhinha, Muani, and Simons (in addition to Tel, Danso, Takai and Vuskovic), we'd finish 10-8th?

You do realise the squad we finished the season with (minus Tel, Danso, Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Spence) came 5th the year before right? And that we'be got a manager who has immediately made us look organised and very difficult to score against. I guess your glass is always half full.
