Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’ll get pelters for this, but it’s not worst option.

He can play left wing and as a 10. And he’s hugely experienced.

That said, he might have checked out of football completely, so it could be terrible. I suppose it would all come down to how much the Bald Warlock can argue City down.

It's a no brainer except I doubt we would pay his wages and it doesn't seem like he wants to leave City

Here's a galaxy brain thought:

Spurs buy McAtee for 30M and take Grealish on loan.

City have a buyback option on McAtee for 50M next summer, OR if Grealish and Spurs agree, City are obliged to pay, I dunno, 10M + Grealish instead.

Grealish with a footballing point to prove to Pep could be a good loan option!

Grealish with a party location list to tick off would not be a good loan option!

He needs to play, and he isn't going to get minutes at City. Coming to us would be his last chance to put himself in the shop window.

BBC gossip page for tomorrow AS in spain saying we want rodrygo to replace Son.

He’s a punt. He was very good then had a bad injury and is coming off a poor season. We have no idea if that same player is still going to rock up at Spurs and no idea if he can translate being very good at tackling to being particularly great at a top 6 team.

He’s available on loan and we had a free run at his transfer for a reason. If he was so super duper proven real deal great, Levy would be running away from a bidding war.

Palhinha played 25 games last season for Munich, 39 the season before and 40 the season before (both seasons for Fulham).

He was out Nov 14th 2024 to Jan 24th 2025 with a muscle injury.

He's not a punt mate, he's averaging 40 games a season over the last five seasons, so that would tell anyone what an important player he has been for Munich, Fulham, and Sporting.

'We have no idea if that same player is still going to rock up at Spurs and no idea if he can translate being very good at tackling to being particularly great at a top 6 team'

You can question the future of any signing that we or any other club make, and finally we are not a top six side so don't worry about where and who he should or shouldn't be playing for, Frank has made him a Spurs player and that's good enough a decision for me.

Huge gulf?

Not sure about that.

He probably will be better but it’s far from certain at 30, after a serious injury. Bayerns other DMs like Goretzka are anything but suited to Kompany so if he didn’t play over Goretzka, it’s not a great sign.

There’s no chance Palinha was the top option. He’s the one further down the list Levy looked at and thought “yup, I’ll get them that one after not really making a serious play for the top 2-3 and then tell them that I’ve given them what they asked for”.
He was the best holding midfielder in the premier league outside of Rodri and Caicedo for the two years he was there and it's not like that's an eternity ago.

Lenglet was a unproven punt and Werner had already been underwhelming in the league before we loaned him, there's a gigantic difference.

Was my dream signing before he went to Bayern, I watch quite a bit of Fulham (mate a fan) but even then if you watched the 5 games he played against us in that time along with anyone questioning this transfer I've no idea what you were watching.

Werner and Lenglet were exactly like Palhinha in the sense that they were once top class hugely valuable players whose form fell off a cliff and took them out of the plans at top clubs, opening them up as loanees to gamble on.

The big difference between Palhinha versus Werner and Lenglet is that there's reasonably strong evidence that moving to the Premier League will help Palhinha, whereas that only seemed likely to make Werner and Lenglet's problems worse, and so it was.

I think someone proving he's very fucking good in the premier league consistently for two seasons probably makes him less exactly like a player who flopped in it at Chelsea and Barca's fourth choice centre back.

I get people will constantly pick on the Bayern thing but he was bought by a different manager then had a 10 or so game injury either side of the Christmas break. It's not like we're buying someone who didn't quite break in at Southampton, German champions with two very good German internationals that play in that position.

I’m not questioning it. My opinion on it is very clear
