I don’t mind the likes of Odobert as he spent most of last season injured and we haven’t seen him on a proper run. Of course if he spends all of this season injured too then fine we need to fix it, but he needs a chance to show his worth. However when you have someone like Son who leaves, you simply have to replace them with true out and out quality, it’s not enough to hope someone like Odobert comes good. You need a ready to go player with a top level about him and let he and Odobert fight it out and cover all competitions.
Tel, tbh I haven’t seen what it is that made us sign him yet, looks another tidy, neat… but fairly ineffective player, but I hope he proves that wrong this coming season.
I think we’re absolutely crying out for a top level leftie to replace Son, a LB as Udogie doesn’t seem to be able to remain fit for a season, and the biggest hole currently is the attacking mid. I think Palinha is fine to shore us up, I actually like Bentancur, Sarr and Bergvall (I just don’t think it works having those three together as a midfield) but we are missing a huge piece when Maddison is out.
Our front three won’t really strike fear into anyone but it seems to be what we are going with, it’s going to need service and I feel that without Maddison that just doesn’t exist. Hopefully Kudus adds something from the right, but even then that’s one person to hang your hat on all season.
We are just so SO poor in transfer windows. We love referring to ourselves as a big club and pretending we’re at the top table but in truth, we aren’t even in the room.
