Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't think I can recall a time since the George Graham post-Ginola days that we had such an uninspiring selection of attacking players at the club.

Even more insane when you consider the amount of money spent in assembling this bunch.

I agree with everything else, I am really puzzled.

But what do you mean "signing one 10" ?! you would sign more ?!?! And do exactly what the fuck when Kulu and Madders will be back ?!?!?
Please, anyone, make it make sense. Why would we even sign one. When we are looking to cover 2-3-4 months ... with 4-5 year contract? Where is the logic in that?

Strategically it would seem way better to buy a good #8 and #10 hybrid and have some youngster as alternative (like Donley).

Cause I guarantee - if we bring in another 50 mil #10, in 1,5 years time people will be asking "So we have now 3 players there, all make 140 k per week. All lose value. Why cannot we shift anyone for good money in that position??!??!??!" .

What makes you think Madders will ever be back to the same player?

He’s just done his ACL in the same knee and he’s 29. His body wasn’t allowing him to stay fit before that anyway.

I love the player and he’s a solid guy, good leader for the young players. It’s fucking horrible for him but it’s the reality that we probably can’t rely on him again.

Maddison is physically not able to cope anymore so he cannot be relied upon

Kulu is not really a 10......I like him but I don't know where he fits in anymore

Frank needs a 10 playmaker to suit his tactics and physical demands

Still, we'll make do and mend until he can be patched up sufficiently to be wheeled out for 60 minutes once a week.

Got to keep that powder dry.

If Ali Gold is right, I’m fully fucking flabbergasted

Davies in the plans at LB

A CB because of previous injuries at CB but no concerns that Richarlison is our first rotation at CF?

Signing one 10 when Maddison is out for ages and Kulusevski even longer…

Quotes from Frank essentially saying they recruit to their own plan, not what he asks for like they did at Brentford…
This is why we went for Thomas Frank........... used to working with scraps ( no offence to any of the players) its just normally CL teams are given the best players , we are just expecting TF to work miracles.

Agree. People say you cant replace Kane and Son and fair enough but we havent even really tried. Forget Kane and Son or even Berbatov and Sheringham, someone like Robbie Keane would be the best forward player in this squad by a country mile.

What happened to that Nicollo Pisilli rumour.

Can't see us going through a summer transfer window without buying at least one for the future.

Can’t see the logic of signing another CB without also signing a LWB as the only point would be if we are playing 3 at the back. In which case we’ll need a viable wing back
May as well get Nordi Mukiele from PSG. The boy can play CB, RB or LB. He's a big strong lad, not the fastest but still decent pace.

Was highly rated when he was at Leipzig and Bayern wanted to get him before PSG swooped in. Never really got a chance there as their starting FB are called Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, plus got Marqui & Pacho at CB.

Injury record a wee worry...had two hammy pops. But he'd be coming here as a backup.

Still only 27yo, cheap fee, reasonable wages.

I really don't think ive ever known there to be such a massive gap between the ambition and expectations of a clubs fans and a football club and its owners?

Its just incompatible. They actually think there doing a great job too.

If frank brings this squad to around a 6th to 8th position he will feel hes done well and rightly so.
But thats nowhere near enough for most fans and the atmosphere wont be good.

As much as I slate the ownership I always cheer the players on once the windows closed. But its not enough

Yet it remains a higher profile signing at the time of signing than any Levy signings . The press coverage of Klinsman signing was very intense iirc . I think if anything your argument just makes Levy look even worse .

So I should say thanks

I don't think it was a "higher profile signing" - that's just juxtaposition based on both the way the world was then and the position the team was. Ndombele was a club record signing and was a huge deal at the time. Bale coming back on loan was just the same effective term as Klinsmann and was a massive deal in the media. Van der Vaart was a huge, huge deal. Soldado at the time was seen as a massive deal.

In this case, your own bias is glorifying the 90s to be something it very much was not.
