Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The fact of the matter is the team isn't any better now, than before the new stadium was opened.

The last time I checked the club had a £330million transfer debt which would account for a fair portion of the transfers since the new stadium opened. According to Levy's financial statement in the spring this year, the club have spent £700m on player acquisitions since the new stadium opened 2019

Yep our team when we said goodbye to WHL

Lloris
Walker
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose
Wanyama
Dembele
Dele
Eriksen
Kane
Son

Winning something is a big psychological lift. Beating the Champions League winners to do it amplifies it even more. Imagine how it will help TF. It's not exactly a trophy we'll be competing for every year so we should go for it and try and get some more shiny stuff on the shelf.
And it would rile up out two biggest rivals, especially Woolwich who's fans are already seething that we're playing in a fixture that they have never played in

The thing about this is nothing I've seen shows the time and structure for that. Let's say, hypothetically, it's due over 5 years. That's £66m a year. It's probably a rolling number, older transfers are paid off as new ones get added.
Is that really a big deal? For a club that generates as much money as we do and is it that far removed from other clubs?

Love to know who will score our goals…Solanke or Richarlison.

You might find players who barely got a sniff in front of goal the last 2 seasons get a lot more chances now.
1 being that we have a coach with tactical sense rather than "cut it back to the far post, mate"
2 being that 7 league goal Son won't keep running into dead ends and give the ball away anymore.

No way he sits it out.

South American players need serious gametime to make the world cup squad.

Only way he stays is if this is all overblown and he will indeed play alot of minutes.

All he has to do is make Real think he'd sit it out to get them to soften their stance.

If we lose it, rivals will mock us.
If we win it, rival fans will claim it's as meaningless a the club world cup.

There is no scenario where fans of rival teams are even bothered in reality.

Good team, but in 2019 all ageing.

And its impractical to change out a whole team within a couple of years

So roll onto 2021 and many of the team were leaving/had left on low prices (eg Eriksen £20m) whereas in 2019 maybe worth £80m/£100m, so limited .money available to replace with equivalent potential of players let alone experienced players

With the “news” that we want another CB, I am terrified that we will line up against Burnley at home with 3 CBs and Palhinha with Bentancur in a double pivot with Sarr/Bergvall in the 10 position - against PSG, Sure, but Burnley at home would be most unwelcome

Funny to think that entire team only cost ~£100m to assemble ... None of them were established 'stars' when we bought them, mainly opportunistic buys from smaller teams like Ajax, Southampton, Sheff Utd, Fulham, Milton Keynes, Leeds etc. This is why Levy has reverted back to type and what he is trying to recreate with purchases of players like Bergvall, Gray, VdV, Odobert etc.

Lloris £11m
Walker £4m
Alderweireld £11m
Vertonghen £10m
Rose £1m
Wanyama £11m
Dembele £15m
Dele £5m
Eriksen £11m
Kane £0m
Son £22m
