Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Friendly bet between us two?
Solanke 16 in all comps last season
Richarlison - 5 in all comps

I don't think it takes much more than actual tactics to get more from both of them.

As long as they don't do a Maddison and miss the season.

Let's say if both are still at the club by the end of the season, and 25 between them?

The stipulation for the loser rs that in every post until the end of May 2026, they have to write I agree with whatever the other writes!!

Football.london understands that Tottenham are confident they will have the funds to carry out their transfer plans this summer, with Frank prioritising both that central attacking playmaker and another centre-back with a good level of experience to bolster the Dane's options in the backline.
This appears, at first glance, to be the most meaningful until you stop to wonder what is meant by 'transfer plans'. It's a bit like the old Head & Shoulders ads that claim to eliminate up to 100% of dandruff, which doesn't exclude the possibility it'll only remove 1%.

Depends

Do I think the the recruitment waste time profiling a player not to sign them? No

Do I think Levy gets into public negotiations for players that he knows that he can’t sign? Yes because he’s done exactly that plenty of times
Where are you getting this from? Tweets from Tier Z sources? I thought you didn't believe any of them.

Regardless, I doubt we expend effort negotiating players we know we can't sign. And our negotiations definitely aren't public. If there's one thing the club abhors it's making known who we are after.

How much longer can this ownership continue to get away with this?

I mean its shocking that we've been this inactive after finishing 17th.

I mean yes Frank will get more from this squad than Ange but it's still way below what's required to compete near the top.

Levy really is an absolute cretin.

No ambition on the footballing side at all.

Another Beyonce concert is where his ambition is really at.

It's a football club first and foremost you weasel.
And we’ve had our first meltdown

You are splitting hairs

Scholar all but bankrupted the club by 1991 and it was downhill from there for a bit - no money meant the squad was not being renewed properly.

Just when to call the bottom is a bit arbitrary, certainly by about 93 it was painfully obvious the direction of travel despite the presence of the odd star such as Teddy Sherringham, youngsters Campbell and Carr coming through and indeed winning the League Cop in 1999. But the general standard of the squad had substantially declined from that which we had in the 80's with a few good players in it they were totally outnumbered by the number of poorer quality players.

Without a doubt the turning point was the appointment of Frank Arnessen who gave us 'Frankie's funtime Friday's when he brought in about 24 first team and u21 players in one summer with Martin Jol taking over as manager in about October and miraculously forming a decent team which within about 2 years took 5th position, having been in 4th place since Christmas.

And when we came 5th under Jol for the first time in 2005 it was our best since 1989/90 and most of that time we had been mid table at best - here by season our placings
92/93 - 8th
93/94 - 14th
94/95 - 7th
95/96 - 8th
96/97 - 10th
97/98 - 14th
98/99 - 11th
99/00 - 10th
00/01 - 12th
01/02 - 9th
02/03 - 10th
03/04 - 14th
04/05 - 9th - Jol's first season
05/06 - 5th

So a huge break of 15 years or so between our peak in 60's/70's/80's and our 'rebirth under Jol and forward 20 years to today, and bar the odd season (last one under Ange, one under Ramos come to mind) we've been pretty consistently around that 5th position - something we could have only dreamed about in 90's through to mid 2000's

Something newer fans don't know
You clearly were not there so I will give you a free pass for basing your views on the data available.

Spurs won the F.A. Cup in 1991 having beaten Woolwich in the semi final and preventing them from doing the double.

During the 91 / 92 season Spurs were League Cup semi finalists, losing to Forest, and reached the quarter final of the European Cup Winners Cup losing to Feyenoord. It was Lineker and Gascoigne's final season at the club, although Gascoigne missed the whole season with his injured knee. The transition began in the 92 / 93 season which I covered in a previous post.

The point is; Spurs were still there or thereabouts during this period. You just fail to understand that.

The top four was not a thing in the early 90's and that is why you can't comprehend what I am attempting to explain to you.

English teams were only allowed back in to Europe during season 91 / 92. Because Spurs were one of those teams competing in Europe it didn't feel like Spurs were shit. I know this because I went home and away at home and abroad.

Splitting hairs my arse.
