Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Still convinced a stronger bench and we would have done it. Hands down best 11 in the league for two calender years and came away with fuck all:-(
Still annoys me hearing Poch say "isss very hard to improve this 11"

We're winning the lot with those numbers. Get in!!
Missed the point of the conversation which was.....
Let's say if both are still at the club by the end of the season, and 25 between them?

The stipulation for the loser rs that in every post until the end of May 2026, they have to write I agree with whatever the other writes!!
That at least one of them will score more than last season.
Given they'll be playing in the champions league against decent opposition it's arguably a tall ask.

But my feeling is that we will have a more cohesive plan that is designed to play to their strengths, rather than a silly philosophy.
And, as much as he's a club legend and fan favourite, I feel Son hindered us last season at least as much, if not more than he helped. With him gone, we can move on.

Where are you getting this from? Tweets from Tier Z sources? I thought you didn't believe any of them.

Regardless, I doubt we expend effort negotiating players we know we can't sign. And our negotiations definitely aren't public. If there's one thing the club abhors it's making known who we are after.

Every club uses the media to manipulate the mood and perception around transfer deals

Lange moving in silence is a meme

I'm refusing to enter the stage known as 'actually, signing Conor Gallagher might be a good move'.

We will see.

It's not physical attributes in respect of Solsnke but something that happens between his ears. If Frank can solve that, we have a 20 goal a season player, but....

Richarlison could score 15 - 20 if his body allowed, and its frailty is now impacting on him mentally, or so it seems to me.

Hmmmmmm.....

Thing about richarlison is that he’s been given chance after chance. A big club would have sold him ages ago

You clearly were not there so I will give you a free pass for basing your views on the data available.

Spurs won the F.A. Cup in 1991 having beaten Woolwich in the semi final and preventing them from doing the double.

During the 91 / 92 season Spurs were League Cup semi finalists, losing to Forest, and reached the quarter final of the European Cup Winners Cup losing to Feyenoord. It was Lineker and Gascoigne's final season at the club, although Gascoigne missed the whole season with his injured knee. The transition began in the 92 / 93 season which I covered in a previous post.

The point is; Spurs were still there or thereabouts during this period. You just fail to understand that.

The top four was not a thing in the early 90's and that is why you can't comprehend what I am attempting to explain to you.

English teams were only allowed back in to Europe during season 91 / 92. Because Spurs were one of those teams competing in Europe it didn't feel like Spurs were shit. I know this because I went home and away at home and abroad.

Splitting hairs my arse.

Always amazes me how people (not so much here, but in general) talk about "the top 4" in a pre 21st century context.
As recently as 2002, only the top 2 went into the group stages. 2001 was 3rd place into the qualifiers. 2002 was the first year that 4th also got a qualifier spot.
For much of the 90's only the Champions qualified for the "Champions League"
1997 was, in fact, the first year 2nd could get a qualifier spot.

So yeah, the top 4 is a recent thing and was utterly meaningless before 2002.

More to the point, who haven't we signed today?

You're saying you don't believe there was ever a time that club bid on a player knowing the chances of him agreeing to the move were very slim??

one born every fucking second.
There are many clubs that do this; it's not exclusive to Spurs. Newcastle is doing it right now with Sesko. Would you rather we didn't bid at all? Then you'd be saying we're not ambitious. Not to mention that most of you think it's just a matter of "boom, slap a wad of cash on the table" and it's done, yet when we do that the retort is "but he's never gonna join us!"

Make up your mind what you want the club to do, will you?
