Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fans want signings to improve the team that came 17th last season, it’s really that simple.

It’s not “beyond parody” to question why we’re not showing the same ambition to improve as our rivals. And anyone comparing hoijland to sesko has never watched sesko play and is clearly arguing from a disingenuous position, because as you will see this season they are worlds apart ability wise.
Showing ambition is a meaningless fan phrase.

You either improve how the team plays on the pitch or you don’t. Transfer window is one small part of that but there is a lot more that goes into it. Transfers are extremely risky and even huge expenditure by Man Utd and Chelsea (billions in a couple of years) hasnt led to great performance because you need to get the rest right. So far they haven’t.

People getting overexcited at Utd’s transfer business is like looking at someone’s photo to decide if they’ll make a good wife. You might feel some type of way but it doesn’t make it good.

Dalot is a good player. Dorgu & Ugarte - and let's not forget Yoro - will get better under Amorim. They need better than Onana, Maguire, De Ligt, Casemiro and Mount as far as older heads are concerned.

If they somehow managed to get Donnarumma, a Guehi type CB and someone like Barella/Ederson/Hjulmand at CM...they would be way ahead of us on paper. Wouldn't even be surprised if Amorim tried to bring McTominay home after the season he had at Napoli.
Dalot good with feet bad with defending. Dorgu and Ugarte that's in the eye of the beholder but I think they've looked bang average, Ugarte especially.

The last bit of your post is what I mean though, that window outside instead of the players they signed for me would be much better than the all the money at forwards approach they've gone. I just don't see how they can recoup anything to bang on top of the 200 million they look to be spending. 11 for 11 (fully fit) I'd take Bruno and Cunha over what we have, Kudus v Mbeumo close but Kudus is much more fun.

Here's a preview

That Godin was a filthy fucker. Doesn't surprise me he's learned telekinesis.

Utd have been a joke in the market for years, pound for pound a fair bit worse than us but they keep trying. They dont act like they've been scarred forever because of a shit summer window in 2019 unlike someone i could mention. I think they've overpaid for all 3 but thats the market. We spent £125m on Solanke and Richarlison. We spent £55m on Kudus who has had one good and one shit season in the prem. All prices are insane, there arent really any bargains anymore. All i can say is if we'd have signed Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko people would be beside themselves, predicting top 3 and heaping praise on Levy and Lange.
Probably helps they've been the 2nd biggest club in world football for about 25 years.

Of course it's going to be Jack Grealish.

"He was our number one option. We've been monitoring him for a long time, but never thought the opportunity to sign him would come up. So when we found out there was an opportunity to take Jack to the club, we had to go for it"

Something very similar to that from the club of it happens.

Obviously every single transfer any team makes is a risk, always find that such a pointless argument to make. Unless they’ve come from the academy every player in your squad has been bought at some point.

The point of a transfer window is to improve your team, because you’ve made a mistake on a transfer in the past doesn’t mean every transfer you make will flop. Utd have signed 3 players that go in and improve their 11, they still need more but at this point they’ve done more than us. Every single spurs fan at the start of summer would have said we need at the very least 3 new players to come straight into the team. We’re a week out from the start of the season and as usual we’re short in key positions.

I get the transfer anxiety but window still open for 3 weeks. Im 99.9 sure we will sign a couple more players. Arujo wouldnt surprise me as bentacurs team-mate. AM, LW and striker. Bag them then im sure we will have a good-ish season.
