Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I get the transfer anxiety but window still open for 3 weeks. Im 99.9 sure we will sign a couple more players. Arujo wouldnt surprise me as bentacurs team-mate. AM, LW and striker. Bag them then im sure we will have a good-ish season.
The window may shut in 3 weeks but our season starts in a week and we currently have no 10, have a couple 20 year olds at LW and two strikers that combined didn’t reach 15 league goals last season…

And we've screwed around again, missing another preseason again, not giving the new manager the best chance of a good start again.

Signings getting done after preseason means they're going to take time to acclimate to the new club, new managers tactics etc.

Even if we do sign another couple, they've left it too late, again.

Considering that we had an incompetent manager who drove a dozen players into the physio room, i wouldn't take any measure of a teams ability based on last seasons 17th finish.

I am quite excited by the prospect of better defending, better attacking and player development next season that from what I witnessed over the past two seasons.
Frank is being set up to fail. In two years time you’ll be blaming him as a small time Brentford manager while Levy will be stitching up his replacement yet again.

Showing ambition is a meaningless fan phrase.

You either improve how the team plays on the pitch or you don’t. Transfer window is one small part of that but there is a lot more that goes into it. Transfers are extremely risky and even huge expenditure by Man Utd and Chelsea (billions in a couple of years) hasnt led to great performance because you need to get the rest right. So far they haven’t.

People getting overexcited at Utd’s transfer business is like looking at someone’s photo to decide if they’ll make a good wife. You might feel some type of way but it doesn’t make it good.

With due respect showing ambition is not a meaningless phrase. Teams like City, Chelsea, man utd, real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated for years and it's not because they are just coached better.

To predictably win you need both a strong coaching and footballing culture, as well as the willingness to spend high for rare but excellent individuals

Obviously every single transfer any team makes is a risk, always find that such a pointless argument to make. Unless they’ve come from the academy every player in your squad has been bought at some point.

The point of a transfer window is to improve your team, because you’ve made a mistake on a transfer in the past doesn’t mean every transfer you make will flop. Utd have signed 3 players that go in and improve their 11, they still need more but at this point they’ve done more than us. Every single spurs fan at the start of summer would have said we need at the very least 3 new players to come straight into the team. We’re a week out from the start of the season and as usual we’re short in key positions.
It’s not a pointless argument to make because you’re still making the mistake at its core.

The point of transfers is to improve performance on the pitch, not to buy players who come straight into the first team.

When you look at those signings you imagine them playing at their best level of performance for Man Utd… which in fact DOES NOT RECOGNISE ANY RISK.

You also ignore all the other things that have to be right (manager, coaching, tactics, strategy, morale, luck…) in order for performance to improve. These things completely swamp transfer business in determining performance on the pitch. Liverpool last season is a clear example - zero signings, overtook rivals who made many signings.

Just wondering—why aren’t we considering Mikkel Damsgaard as a possible signing for our No. 10?

He’s not the most obvious choice, but he quietly put up 11 goal contributions (3 goals, 8 assists) across all competitions last season. His 0.34 G+A per 90 minutes puts him in the top 25% of Premier League midfielders, and his expected assists (xA) per 90 of 0.31 ranks him in the top 5% league-wide. That kind of creative output could be valuable, especially in a flexible tactical setup.

He’s also familiar with both Thomas Frank and Justin Cochrane, which could help with integration. And he’s shown he can play across multiple attacking roles—left wing, central attacking midfield, even deeper if needed.

As for cost, Brentford are reportedly open to offers in the €40–50 million range. That’s a significant fee, but not outrageous given his age (25), versatility, and Premier League experience.

Would love to hear others’ thoughts. Is he worth the investment? Or are there better options out there for that role?

Just putting this out there—why aren’t we looking at Mikkel Damsgaard as a potential option for our No. 10?

He’s not the perfect fit, sure, but he did manage a combined 13 goals and assists last season, which isn’t bad at all. Plus, both Frank and Cochrane know him well, and that familiarity could be a real asset. He’s tactically flexible too, which gives us options depending on how we want to set up.

Curious to hear what others think—are there better options out there, or is Damsgaard being overlooked?

Also seems to have got over his injury problems.
I doubt this would be a factor at all in this day and age but wonder if Frank just doesn't want to stamp on Brentford anymore than they've already been this window. Think Wissa and Daamsgard would be perfect for us and solves our three biggest issues in 2 signings.

Showing ambition is something any club can do. I showed ambition with an U10 team I coached 15 years ago. Every PL team shows ambition.

The key is to put pieces together to improve performance on the pitch. If you do that successfully then fans will say you’ve shown ambition. If you don’t do that successfully then spending a billion pounds is not worthwhile. Like Chelsea or Man Utd these past few seasons. The intelligent signings we made to build the Poch team showed much more useful ambition than our rivals at a fraction of the cost.

He signed a new deal. They are not gonna sell him when they’ve lost Frank, Mbeumo and most likely Wissa. They would be asking for a relegatio battle.

Our owners probably don't even know what an internet forum is, much less care what we think they should be doing.

Hopefully a dry window will rile the matchday fans up.
I'm hoping to have my mojo back after watching us basically let teams win every game for 18 months. Maybe if I have some enthusiasm again I'll arrive early and make up the numbers.

Moaning on here achieves nothing though. It just becomes pointless mass hysteria. The same old stuff gets spouted hour after hour, day after day.

Go for a run, get some fresh air. Get an early night tonight.
It's only a game.
