Maddison is the one we didn't plan on obviously. Son says he told the club in June. That's prob why they made Tel permanent quickly.

My thoughts at the start of the window was 2 or 3 experienced signings, with Frank working with some additional youngsters to back up/supplement the squad.

Lots of youngsters have gone on loan though, with the rumour of more left to place out at clubs.

Think that'll leave us short squad-wise so I'm confident we'll get more signings. Whether they'll be of the standard to please the TFC brain trust we'll have to see.
Frank doesn't seem to have a lot of pull with outside players. His best finish is 9th so I think a lot of high quality players will steer clear.

They are not. West Ham not bothered Kudus has gone and Palhinha is good but not a top player. Top players don't come to Spurs on loan. They would have suitors from top clubs. Neither of these additions move the dial and with Son gone, Maddison fucked we are arguably worse than last season. Frank has been fucked over and once again, it's going to get very toxic very quickly...
This 'no other club wanted them so they're rubbish' take pointless. It's up the with 'why are club x selling?'.

Shit happens. Some players don't work out at one club but thrive at others.

West Ham 'weren't bothered' cos they say Kudus wanted out and downed tools last season. When he first joined they loved him.

Palhinha was so good at Fulham that Bayern bought him. Then they changed managers, changed style and he got injured.

Also, you can't attack the club for not paying the wages that other do, then complain when we sign players seemingly without any competition. If we can't compete for signings because of miserly ENIC then we can only go for players without too much competition.

You know I am 100% in agreement with you, but do you know what irks me, Levy refuses to be honest about the situation, if rather than coming out and saying "we want to win the premier league and champions league" in that interview with Vinai, he had said "we will need to approach the coming window opportunistically, we don't expect to raise much from player sales, had large net spend under Ange and sizeable committed spending for the summer window and we will have a "wait and see" year with only opportunistic punts if a doable deal becomes possible on a big enough name. People might not want to hear that but it would be incredibly realistic assessment of our current holding pattern in the market.

Why is he increasing the pressure on the manager in interviews before he's had a chance to watch us play a competitive fixture, then doing fuck all in the market to improve the squad that finished 17th the year prior? It just makes us look fucking stupid tbh. Once Newcastle get a body in the door we are quickly gonna become the butt of the joke of this window, even fucking Everton have improved more than we have, lest we forget they finished above us...
The video interview was a fucking disaster for those two sentences. He didn't say we need to win them this season and he didn't say we need to win them eventually (that I think it's pretty fucking obvious but internet). Agree I think we should be made more aware of our position going in the window but that's just not football.

Newcastle about to lose their biggest player and Everton lost 6 players who were starting for them at the end of last season. Again is rather it all be done in time for the start of the season but that's football and that's us, I feel totally fine not capitulating until the end of the window, still 4 games and 20 hamstrings to pop by then anyway.

You think we could announce Kane's return?

That certainly would be left field.
I dont think we will at all. I've just got a little 3% chance in my head where;

*Kanes won his wanky plate already
*He's probably just at the limit of coming back and beating the premier league scoring record
*His massive house he's been building for years is finished
*We need a 10 and I always thought that's where he'd play in his twilight 'a la Rooney's

I'm 95% sure he's staying in Bayern.

wage bill must be under 35% vs revenue now… only have 3 players earning >£100K PW

Woolwich - 16
A Villa - 13
Chelsea - 15
Liverpool - 13
Man City - 18
Man United - 17

Frauds
Been saying all summer that a 35% WTR was Levy's primary objective.

If we ain't there yet, we will be as soon as we shift Romero, Biss/Rod and Richy...only to replace them with the likes of that Leicester kid and some other below par but cheap body.

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to make. Are you saying these two are top players or are you defending our transfer policy.

And I absolutely can attack the club when we continue to pay big salaries OR big wages but never both. Which generally leads to us over paying for bang average players (see Solanke) or picking up players none of our "rivals" are interested in (see Kudus).

I will take that 3%

I know it won't happen......but Kane in this team changes everything.

I guess ultimately I'm trying to say that, as always, the arguments in this thread, and the wider forum in general, are all over the place and contradictory.

This is a really good take... very lucid and honest and probably how much of the fan base is feeling. However, be prepared for a few insults about not being a real fan, transfer window is still open, Frank is genius and you haven't got a clue etc.
I hope Kudus can be that guy. As a Swede I'm always looking forward to watching Bergvall. I hope he can take more steps this season. Odobert had shown some promise this pre-season. Tel. I don't know, I hope, but at the moment, I don't see it.

The other thing is if I'm Kane the only thing I'd care about now is being the all-time top scorer in the premier league and for England. Bayern aren't gonna win the champions league with that megamind headed nonce as their manager, who gives a fuck if he wins another Bundesliga. He's got the trophyless bollocks gone and so have we.

I'm at 3.5%

El Khannouss is a very good player. I saw him play in Belgium too. Upgrade on Kulu as a 10.

If we could get him and a LW like Leao or Fofana then I would be pleased.
I’m sceptical, a name out of nowhere that people will try to convince is an under the radar gem. No one even mentioned him last season as an interesting player, here or in the wider football media. That’s not everything maybe but yes sceptical. What sort of player is he?

Just because we beat them in the Europa final, I do not see why so many are comparing us to them. MU have always been the biggest English club worldwide and players even from abroad supported them as a child and so would choose them. Their trophy haul over the last 50 years dwarfs ours.
you've started to see fake spurs shirts being sold on the markets here in Spain and in football shirt stores in the US in the last decade. I think we're catching up on them

I mean we need more but Kudus and Palhinha are '2 top players that are ready now', are they not?
They may well be. But doubt is permitted considering Kudus was bang average last season and Palhinha failed spectacularly at Bayern (on top of missing 90 days/20ish games through injury).

End of the day, the main reason they are here is cause West Ham were in the shite and Bayern desperately wanted rid of the Portuguese (ditto Tel).
