Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Another we tried coming from this Paz bid, just wasting time pissing in the wind. Real Madrid have the option to take him back next summer for €9m. Complicated deals like this have always turned out very successfully :levyhands:

So Como paid less than 4m for Paz a year ago, and now we're bidding 40m and Como want 70m?

He might be a top player but spending huge money on a player who has had one decent season isn't the way we should be doing things as a club. Either buy established high quality players, or take punts on the likes of Bergvall / Vuscovic.

One year you’re a young cheap punt.

The next you’re worth €70 mill.

The beauty of football

Paz has a weird buyback clause as a former Madrid youth player. RM has something like a £10m buyback clause in each of the next 3 summers - AND they have a sell-on clause, so Como only get half the money.

Seems a difficult deal to do honestly.

In that case I can see why Como would want 70 million.

But I can also see why they would also want to sell him.

Question is, would Madrid agree to a sale

Im not familiar with paz as I do not watch seria A.
70m (presumably euros?) Is alot of money. Is he really that good.

Every team gonna screw us over now. That's what you get when u walk the tight rope as we do.

It makes you think what is the fucking point really. In any sport at any level its basic stuff to want to be the best you can possibly be. If you dont win, at least try. We've just given up. Its the season ticket holders i feel sorry for.
Mate got rid of mine a year ago. Not buying Merch that comes from club licensing. Got my vintage shirt I wear when I went away last season ( from the 1991 season). Now im fully out. I worked out that I was giving the club about 4 and a half k a year and have done for around 15 years. Its simply not value for the emotional shafting we are getting. Im using that five grand to rent a Villa for 10 days on an exclusive Greek island with a very beautiful woman. I can't stop caring but I can stop being complicite in my own defrauding.

Madrid don't need to agree, they just receive half of whatever Como decide to sell at.

From a Como point of view, it's a bit of a gamble to turn down 40m now, of which they would get 20m, when Madrid can just swoop in and pinch him back for 10m at any point over the next 3 years.

That 30m difference in valuation would only be an extra 15m for them.

Another complication of the deal though is that even if we agreed a fee, surely Madrid would activate their 10m option, and then there's every chance the player opts to return there over joining us.

You know who was at Como last season and is an attacking midfielder available for less than 70m?

Ok, in that case it might make the deal a bit more feasible deal to do.

But would we have made an offer for him if we hadn't already sounded out the player?

This is a chance for him to come to the PL and play CL this season, or stay at Como, go back to Madrid and maybe sit on their bench for a season or two?

It shouldn’t be lost on us that the cost of players fee, transfers and wages are spiralling out of control. Those costs are funded by us the fans. Ticket prices, food prices, merchandise etc have to rise to compensate. I watch the prem on Fubu and the yearly cost nearly doubled this year and it’s no coincidence that it coincides with the lunacy fees we are seeing in football this year.

There has to be an end to it and the one thing Levy sees is that it’s not sustainable.

The other issue is there is just too much money at the top, and the lower leagues will crumble if the balance keeps moving in this direction. Premier league owners are billionaires, oil states, countries FFS!

It’s a pyramid scheme and is doomed to fail.
For all his faults Levy sees this. People around the world are starving and football clubs are spending millions and millions of dollars/pounds/euros to buy players. If you stop and think about it all you may just see it may well not be sustainable and it definitely shouldn’t be.

So what if it’s difficult, we have the best paid chairman and executives in the league

That’s literally what we’re paying them for
