nothing shocking about not going after a left winger. Tel was always the replacement, just hope odobert can stay fit this season otherwise it will be a 20 year old being asked to play 4 competitions

Johnson is garbage on the left, not sure where frank got the notion from that he can cover there. he can cover LW about as well as Vicario . So loaning out Yang min could leave us quite light here if injury occurs to tel or odo

The club must have someone in mind we were after mgw not long ago and that was with maddison fit. We now don't have son or maddison or got mgw. It's a question of who. With the young lad going out on loan to stoke also the club need to act fast it's all so slow it's very very poor. Like someone previously posted it's sad for the fans. Wish we were back in the Europa league again.
You are assuming we are not a shambolic shitshow behind the scenes. Even Frank complained about the recruitment process in his last press conference in Korea, and he’s only been here a month.

It's confirmed (like we didn't already know)

Our approach to recruitment, and specifically positions we badly need to address, is fucking shocking

What are they actually fucking doing?

Every other big Club asserts themselves in the market and pretty much gets in what they need.

We barely dip a fucking toe in.

Completely sick of it tbh.

There is no appeal of the ENIC model where it is today. Some of us just happen to be a bit more patient than others in the hope that we will eventually get to the point where we really compete at the top of the table.

Is it a pipe dream? Perhaps. But we also understand that getting there takes time; more time than some would like. Where we are all frustrated is that there doesn't appear to be a linear progression, something that would have been facilitated by having a world class football operations department. It's two steps forward one step back.

And for those that will ask "you're still patient after 25 years?" they should remember that the first 20 years we were continuously progressing. It's the last 4-5 years that we've been stuck and regressing somewhat. And to compound the frustration is the fact that the club is not transparent with it's strategy leading people to believe all kinds of things. Better communication of what we're trying to achieve and how we're planning to go about it would have gone a long way in getting some of the more vocal fans onboard.

In any case, mistakes have definitely been made and progress is slower than we want. We can whine and bitch about it all we want, but it's really out of our hands. So might as well try to enjoy the good moments and hope there will be more of them in the years to come.
It’s getting worse not better

It’s all on Levy. That interview confirmed by worse fears about him

Were behaving like a small club and allowing other clubs to hoover up the best players on the market. Then we chase players that cant get a game at their clubs like grealish and diaz.

It's genuinely disgusting.

All that aside, and let's say it didn't even matter and there were no HG or CT rules anyway....

We were at our best when we had a strong core of England starting players
Kane, Dele, Dier, Walker, Rose, Trippier. For me, we've never been the same since our core was broken up.
I agree on that, not only the HG dominance, but we've also had our better times when there have been other groups, like the Croatian contingent, and the Belgian too. I'd like to say the Argies, but that didn't pan out quite so well.

Before the group you mentioned, our return towards the top end of the table under Jol was also spearheaded by a core of young British players - Robinson, Dawson, King, Carrick, Lennon, Keane, Defoe, and errr, Davenport, Davis, Routledge, Reid, Bent...

Simpler times though, not a fee of greater than £8m amongst the lot.

Clubs who have done more than us: Woolwich, Chelsea, Liverpool, City. Last years top 4.

Clubs who have done less than us: everyone else including, Villa, Newcastle, Forest, United…

United done less than us, how have you figured that one out?

Concerning about the lack of reports about any activity from us from Romano and other journalists.

Especially with big deals, you hear about it for days and days.

I know some of our business comes out of nowhere, but that's because they are usually cheap punts, which says it all and doesn't bode well for us bringing in some top talent.
Big Johan has gotten lost with all that moving around in the shadows, Levy's been looking for him but alas, Lange also moves in absolute silence so no luck as yet...

I think part of the problem is planning with different scenarios playing out, "if we get him we'll go for him next, because he can cover this position and that position.. we'll go for him because he covers home grown status...etc"

Once part of the plan falls apart, either from being gazumped, MGW situation or Maddison injury it puts the whole thing into a mess.
