Another we tried coming from this Paz bid, just wasting time pissing in the wind. Real Madrid have the option to take him back next summer for €9m. Complicated deals like this have always turned out very successfully :levyhands:

Yeh.... If we buy him for 70m that clause obviously isn't going to remain, is it.

Im not really sure what happened to you these past years, but you’ve become a much more assertive and opinionated person than you used to be. I remember you sitting back years past on here but now an insistent presence.
Can't tell how you feel about that from the tone of your message, feel as though there is much more to be opinionated about in 2025 than years past as a Spurs fan and I had quite a bit more patience for ENIC when we pivoted from Poch to José so quickly and seemed like we had levelled up as a club, as well as the likes of GLC and N'dombele not necessarily being write-offs at that point, still having Kane and prime Son, still having hope that we could rebuild Dele. The club has gone right down the swanny in the last 5 years and would love to see some direction again.

Yeah that may all be right, but the other thing you run into in these situations is a player's determination to play for Madrid.

As things stand I'm sure Paz sees himself at the Bernabeu in 26/27 and he's not unreasonable to think that.

He’s pretty unreasonable to think that

They have Guler, Mastantuono and Brahim Diaz ahead of him who couldn’t get loads of minutes themselves last year

I dont think we will at all. I've just got a little 3% chance in my head where;

*Kanes won his wanky plate already
*He's probably just at the limit of coming back and beating the premier league scoring record
*His massive house he's been building for years is finished
*We need a 10 and I always thought that's where he'd play in his twilight 'a la Rooney's

I'm 95% sure he's staying in Bayern.
* His kids having German accents!

I actually agree with you. It wouldn’t surprise me either way. Maybe we finish above them, maybe they finish above us.

But I am pointing to an inconsistency.
United finished above us last season.
If they have strengthened better than us, then you must be confident that they will finish above us?

My explanation is that by bringing in a great manager, and having an excellent coaching team, and having many young players who will naturally improve, and having better morale … we have actually strengthened far more than United. It’s just less visible. I also think there’ll be mean reversion so we will naturally improve more than them. So I think the gap will be negligible and come down to luck (injuries, playing teams at the right time, general randomness…).

Are you saying Frank is a “great manager”? If so, by what metric?
