How does Levy persuade coaches to think long-term when he keeps sacking them in the short term?
He must be a fucking hypnotist
I have been drinking wine from Minervois, around the Herault river. Some great value there, they are not very trendy so very priceworthy. For £13 you can get a really nice red.Take care it's a slippery slope
Seriously though, I love a good French Bordeaux but this is a close second
I just want to say that I do not always bring my best self to this forum. We are all spurs fans here.
If we don’t bring in one or two more FIRST TEAM players then we have not done enough and it will be a bs window.
It’s not true that Levy said we would win the league and CL this season. That’s disingenuous. However he did say we need to compete and at the moment the squad is short of quality to compete on four fronts.
Massive three weeks ahead.
Reports us trying to bring Kane home for £56 million. Fuckers getting my hopes up .
Well, it wouldn't be deja vu if it only happened once.
It being like this following a European triumph and those comments about competing are even enough to drain the positivity out of those who are deseprate to find it at all times, despite a history of evidence suggesting otherwise. That in itself is quite a talent, a dark Daniel themed talent. We are in an incredibly precarious position and it really didn't need to be like this
Realistically we need 6 new first XI players to start with Vicario, VdV, Romero, Porro and Palhinha. All other current players are back up at best.
I think the 'need to win the league' thing has just been completely blown up by the fans. Even the stupidest of stupid people could tell from the very scripted interview there was absolutely no implication that was meant for this season but it turned an absolute nothing puff piece into another stick to get beaten by.It's a bit of a weird one because a LOT of PL clubs (and the championship clubs that have been and gone in between) have come under new ownership in the last 5 years, if you were to judge ENIC in a vacuum based on their whole term as Tottenham owners you would have to say they have held the club's health in high regard and even now with us faltering for some time, we are not in any financial danger, however when you measure them against other owners in the league who have been around a while (FSG, Kroenke, Mansour) their achievements utterly pale in comparison. If you ask "who is the worst run PL club since 2020" it's very much a two-horse race between ourselves and United, and were you to judge that over the entire decade (20-30), who would bet against United getting their shit together much more than us under INEOS?
He didn't need to say that at all. He did not need to intensify pressure on the club by specifically mentioning winning the PL and CL, simply outlining that we seek to build towards being competitive in top level competition again over the next few years would have sufficed, it is not the fault of Spurs fans that our owner is drunk on his own ego and decided to pair a completely fanciful statement with a completely inadequate window to even show signs that winning those competitions is part of a 15 year plan, much less a 3 year or 5 year one.
Even if we did bring in 2 more first team players, can we say we've done as much as Liverpool? City? Woolwich? Supposedly these are teams we have ambitions of catching up to, all of whom finished in the top 4 and all of whom have improved their already very good sides substantially more than we are likely to improve our very average one.
Frank must be the hill we die on as Spurs fans in a sense. We have turned every which way to every which type of manager since Poch and not a single appointment has worked, we can all see as fans he has been given a squad that wasn't good enough for the ambitions foisted on him by the chairman before he's even had the chance to conduct a training session and has barely been strengthened in the meantime, meanwhile the teams he's supposed to be catching up to are out having £200m+ net spend windows.Deary me. Have heard the same from every Spurs manager for the last 20 years. They all end up sacked. It's going down the same path. We heard it last summer. So what do we do? wait until this summer, and now? same again, wait until summer 2026?
It's a fucking joke that stopped being funny two decades ago
Again though, why is effectively the shot-caller of a multi-billion pound entity not being briefed that even mentioning winning those competitions creates effectively a timeline of expectation? As I have said previously, even if you accept that challenging for those competitions forms part of a 3 or 5 year plan, that still invites unwanted scrutiny on our transfer activity and competition performance under our new manager from the get-go. If Frank finishes 9th and takes us into a semi-final, I would class that as a good starting point to build on, considering we would have improved 8 places and given a decent account of ourselves in a cup competition, but if you contextualise a 9th placed finish and a cup run in year one of a 3-5 year plan to win the league, that is utter failure. I never expected us to spend the probably close to £1bn on player acquisitions that would be required for us to even closely compete for the league, but if you tell me that's where you want to get eventually, I expect you will at least break £200m net as every single one of the teams we would have to surpass to achieve those goals have.I think the 'need to win the league' thing has just been completely blown up by the fans. Even the stupidest of stupid people could tell from the very scripted interview there was absolutely no implication that was meant for this season but it turned an absolute nothing puff piece into another stick to get beaten by.
I'm not pro ENIC, the option of an outside takeover would be great, I think they've pretty much cemented where we are as generally the 6th best team in the country and that in itself is an achievement, just there's now a absolute chasm between us and the 5 obove us and I don't think there's a realistic chance under this ownership that it's breached.
Yeah, I know, am pushing that abit. But we have more important positions to fill unfortunately.
Whilst far from perfect, double bid for Grealish and McAtee solves a lot of issues in attack for us
