i think the best we can hope for is a loan like grealish... and that's it. maybe we sign a younger player like paz or bilal al fuckall but i think everyone knows we're desperate and will be holding out for more and levy won't overpay. look for the clubs that are most desperate to sell and there's our shortlist. if i had to guess, i think we'll stare down city over the grealish wage split until the very end and bring him in on deadline day. we've done this before with adebayor and it will be long and drawn out.

You’ve said yourself our recruitment is poor. Poor recruitment and being ponderous and going for opportunistic deals as opposed to the best player available are not mutually exclusive. They clearly go hand in hand.
In fact, the fact we have spent so much money and still have a team that is so woefully short in so many areas reinforces my point.
No team that is serious and has a proper plan in a transfer window could spend so much and still be in such dire straights. (Manchester United being the exception perhaps but they are an enigma no one can figure out.)
Oh we can get better but we dont want to compete with the big boys on wages so we have to settle for the B list of players. Then the guy wonders why he has to keep sacking managers every two seasons.
