Sounds like a plan, but who would you want as this proper 10?If we get him on the left with Kudus on the right the scare factor for opposition fullbacks compared to last season will be hilarious.
Go get a proper 10 to progress the ball to them as well and bingo. I have doubts over Solanke and the midfield behind the 10 but we will at least have some sexiness going forward.
Brennan can play some league cup games and come on if we need someone to run at the back post and occupy a defender for the last 20 mins of games.
Don’t want Savinho based on this comment alone.going for doku over savinho is defo a sign of losing the plot.
It wasn't for Brentford, Damsgaard played that role and was an AM/#10.Going on from my post above, I think the lock picking passer in how Frank sets up needs to be more of a deep lying playmaker. The quarterback type. I'm expecting us to setup a lot in a mid block or low block and play on the counter. You need a good long range passer to hit your forward targets. Bergvall might be the closest we have.
I don't think Frank is bothered about having a 10.
Much of what we will do is bypass the midfield and play long to the wingers. It's why he will be happy to have Bentancur, palhinha and Sarr in midfield to press.
I really don't think there will be much build up play from front to back passing the ball this season.
Brentford looked to leave Wissa and Mbuemo up front and then hit them early on the counter as much as possible. You can do the same with a Savinho/Kudus/Tel/Johnson/Odobert type.
Which is why I'm also unsure about Kulusevski role on the team when he comes back.
Also with hopefully savinho and kudus on each wing too our dynamism will change i can't see simons happening but if we got those 2 in addition then the window changes alotI’d love for us to throw our hat in the ring for Simon’s late and say unlike Chelsea we will build around you, you’ll play every week and then give him a big contract offer .. we won’t. Failing that the lad at Monaco has something about him .. failing that Damsgaard wouldn’t be the worst cheap option.
It's obvious City are open to selling him, or it wouldn't be being reported by Romano and Moretto as 'negotiations ongoing'. The question is whether a fee can be agreed, I'm optimistic.
He was pretty poor for City. Don't see why they'd get double their money for him after he underwhelmed.city paid 30mil for him so will probably want at least 50 maybe even 60.
Not to be a downer, but:I’d love for us to throw our hat in the ring for Simon’s late and say unlike Chelsea we will build around you, you’ll play every week and then give him a big contract offer .. we won’t. We also tried to sign MGW, so i think Frank definitely wants a #10.
you must have me confused with someone else ya plum, got no idea who you are never seen your name before.Don’t want Savinho based on this comment alone.
If Daveyboy, just about the worst judge of a players abilities on this forum , which is full of people that are not good at judging abilities rates him, then he will be a disaster.
Not to be a downer, but:
Simons has his head turned up by Chelsea so I think that ship has sailed.
The lad from Monaco played at RW but some tacticos argued he likes taking up central positions so could be converted to #10... given Kudus can also play #10 in the same vein, I'm not sure it would make sense as the signing after Savinho.
Damsgaard would be a bit underwhelming and Brentford may not budge with the Mbuemo money in hand... look at how much Wissa is having to play up to engineer a move out.
City definitely could use the PSR money. He was a £35m signing last year and if we paid say £50-60m (I wouldn’t spend more than £60m on him) that’s a lot of profit to put on their books.Romano saying the player is open to the move.
So the finger is only pointed at one direction if it doesn't happen
I was thinking this earlier. We actually have a pretty decent back 4The PL is crazy. Crystal Palace who have Danny Rosed a left back for 2m have gone toe to toe with Liverpool who have bought everyone for hundreds of millions.
Apart from the promoted sides, there are no easy games in this crazy league.
I think being hard to beat this season will be vital to our chances. Frank is a much better manager than Ange to have for that.
The issue will be scoring enough goal and we don’t have creativity. I guess we’ll look to be more direct like an elite Brentford but it’ll be tough when teams sit back.
Savinho has a decent right foot tbf, he’s not an entirely one footed player.Really like Savinho, but I have massive football OCD and this signing and having a lefty either wing would not help that.![]()
