Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Is it Savio or Savinho?
Either or, his first name is Savio and he is sometimes referred to as that *or* Savinho, Savinho meaning "little Savio" in Brazilian Portuguese.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says the club will sell captain Marc Guehi this summer to avoid losing him on a free at the end of his contract.

The Eagles rejected offers for defender Guehi from Newcastle United in January - the last of which was worth £65m - in the hope the defender would sign a new deal in south-west London.

I thought we bid 70m in Jan for him?
We should at least have a solid try for Guehi IMO, we can defo offer him starting minutes as feel VDV has all the attributes required to be a good LB allowing him to cover Udogie, which would free us up to let Ben Davies go somewhere like Wrexham for free on garnished wages, all 3 of Udogie, VDV and Romero have had spells injured in the last 2 seasons, it future-proofs us against Romero getting itchy feet, and massively upgrades our defensive depth. Reckon a deal could be done at £30-40m on realistic wages, only thing stopping us would be the likes of Liverpool or Chavs getting involved. If you can get Romero to sign a new contract next summer then you sell Dragusin and have Romero, VDV, Guehi and Danso as your CB options, sounds a lot more like a top 4 defence to me that.

The fanbase isn't a monolith, I can only speak for myself.

Not all youngsters are the same, for example I'd say Savinho has shown more promise than Tel, Gittens and Garnacho (all 20-21). He's a very exciting prospect, 9 goals 10 assists in La Liga and then 1 goal 8 assists in the PL. Brilliant dribbling ability. No the finished product when it comes to end product, but I trust Frank with that.

In a Pep team that is quite a poor return

Parish said there was a bid in January but the player had view on that 😃

Something tells me the wee fella knew that view when he bid, Daniel needs a new playbook . Oh wait he did find a new way to fail with the MGW bid

The following are mostly true

Once we are linked with a player, they become the best, typical bargain buy or in the not sure category.

I think, after the Gibbs-White on-off drama, that anyone who gets excited and starts anticipating line-ups,better to wait until the ink has dried.

We buy rubbish Brazilians. Just look at our past.

Yes right now it seems exciting, ooohhh young Brazil winger but for some reason they never live up to the hype once they join this club

And for a rumoured 70 mill!!!!

Context is everything, it's the poorest Pep team with regards to league performance since his first season at City, they've spent £400m over the last 3 windows completely revamping the team and had a vital cog in the machine out for the entire season with Rodri's injury. I think 1 goal and 10 assists in 1772 minutes in your debut PL season is pretty fucking solid tbh.

We bought shit players, the fact they happened to be Brazilian was correlation, not causation. If we only bought nationalities we had a solid hit rate on we'd have a team full of Belgians and Croatians if we're being honest with ourselves.

Tel's stats are not better than Savinho's though. Savinho had more G+A contributions in just the league in his last season at Girona than Tel had in his entire spell at Bayern (60 games) and got 10 PL assists last season, an impressive haul for a wide player in their debut season in this league.
You see that's just not right according to Transfermarkt

Tel Career - 4799 minutes played

31 goals

7 assists

Savhino Career - 8187 minutes

18 goals

27 assist

There's not much in it

However that suggests that Rebrov_Likes Rebrov_Likes hit the nail on the head when he said Tel is more of a wide forward and Savhino is more traditional winger.

But either way, he's young and could be useful and if he's a provider and different to what we already have then that is exactly what we need.

It means Tel and Savhino are not either/or and could play together

Tel Solanke

Savhino, Midfielder , Midfielder, Kudus

Udoggie VDV Romero Porro

Vicario

The central pairing could be any of Palhinha Bentancur, Bergvall, Sarr dependant on opponent.

You'd also have Johnson, Odobert, Richarlison, Danso, Spence fighting out to push the first 11.

And that's without even factoring Kulusevski returning.

It's not a horrendous place fro Frank to start from.
