Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's swings and roundabouts though, as being the main man could result in being double marked etc. Also, Rodrygo had the advantage of better midfielders for supply.

Ofc Rodrygo is ahead right now, but hard to judge him given he's been out of position for so long. Don't think he'll go to City, they're dealing with HG issues which is partly why they're selling Savinho.

Meh. When Savinho hit those numbers he had 600+ more minutes than Rodrygo .. and trust me if you took Rodrygo and made him the star guy for a mid table la liga side he’d hit very good numbers, it is how it is.

There’s no real argument here .. Rodrygo has been a second fiddle having to do lots of off the ball work for Vini & co for a while. I don’t think he’s absolute top level at all but he’s a proven very good player at CL level. Savio is the best we can attain with our wage structure.

Savinho closer to Spurs move, but Man City want £50m

Brazilian thought to be worried about game time at Etihad and Tottenham are in need of attackers following Son departure and Maddison injury

Manchester City have reluctantly begun talks with Tottenham over a potential move for Brazil international Savinho.

City do want to lose the winger, who was a key member of the side last season, but manager Pep Guardiola has always maintained he will not keep unhappy players at the club and needs to trim numbers before the transfer window shuts.

City will only sell for a suitable fee, which is likely to be about £50m, given they signed the 21-year-old for £35m from Girona last year.

Following the arrival of Rayan Cherki from Lyon, Savinho is thought to be worried about game time if he remains at the Etihad Stadium, and City have at least given Tottenham some encouragement that a deal can be done.

The north-London club are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after the departure of Son Heung-min to Los Angeles FC and the recent serious knee injury sustained by James Maddison. New manager Thomas Frank’s two main arrivals this summer are Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha.

A pursuit of Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White failed last month, and Tottenham have now switched attention to versatile attacker Savinho, but discussions with City are at an early stage.

Savinho played 48 times in his debut campaign under Guardiola, mainly on the right wing, where he scored three times and delivered 13 assists. If an agreement can be reached between the two clubs, Savinho could be a natural replacement for the Tottenham’s former captain Son.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is expected to move to Everton after City agreed to a season-long loan.

Grealish, 29, was left out of the match-day squad for the final day of last season and he was also absent for the Club World Cup in the United States over the summer.

Wonder if the Palace news has any effect on Eze, Guehi and Wharton?
it's interesting because they have a really good squad and a great manager, they're really on the cusp of something if they could just add 2/3 really good players they could push on but of course nature of the beast the "Pecking Order" rears it's ugly head and they get pillaged.

it's the one thing about football I really hate, the glass ceiling, the idea that certain clubs belong at the top - United, Liverpool, the scum etc and other clubs aren't allowed unless they get state funding.

I saw a clip of that Irish (shame on my country) Liverpool fan ranting about Isak. How Newcastle need to "Get humble" and "Know their place" and I just thought to myself "what a fucking cunt you are!"

he arbitrarily picks a very successful team and thinks that gives him the right to act like an arrogant cunt to anyone who supports a team who are less successful.

it fucking drives me nuts, it'd be like if I decided tomo that I was a Real fan I could say "eh know your place little Liverpoo. we're the big boys WE'VE GOT 14 EUROPEAN Cups we'll take Trent and Konate and whoever we want ahahahaha" etc

I don't do that though, because I'm not a cunt, support whatever club you want but fuck off being a pathetic prick about it. it's why I absolutely hate twats like Goldstein and Alex Crook on TS or Adam Mckola - all overlooked big clubs local to them be glory following plastic cunts who picked the best team in the 90s and then that (random choice) to be conceited arrogant snide little pricks to fans of clubs who've gone to their clubs games every week for as long as they've been alive, fans who are embedded in the culture of the club.
it sickens me, and i say this as a "foreign fan"

**Apologies for the rant

Not just on about the better player though as other people who have engaged in a civil manner have highlighted.

‘Which would be the better fit’ lol. The one we can actually sign and the one we would be willing to pay the wages for..

I like Savio - good signing. Rodrygo would be a better one. We would never make it. Savio is on relatively low wages and the club are seemingly making it easy to sell. The player wants to come.

Rodrygo would require loads of work and pushing the boat very far out - we’d never do it.

Wouldn't honestly hate playing BJ as a number 9 until Solanke is fit if it guaranteed us getting a top class LW and 10 in, won't happen but hey ho.

BJ does alot of things poorly but his instinctive positioning and finishing is decent. Don't really need him holding the ball up if Kudus is there gobbling everything up, play balls into the box to brennan and he will get goals, moreso than a makeshift richi or tel.
Brennan is better than Richy and Tel combined. Think he's still ahead if you add Odobert.

With this Savinho deal / no deal sure to drag on, surely.....surely we are also progressing with a #10 :frankfacepalm:

I think we have City in August don't we, so they probably wouldn't want to sell before our game even if they do sell eventually, which seems 50/50 at this point. We simply can't afford to fanny about and lose another two weeks.
