Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's not one fan tbh.
They all seem to rate him but think Bobb has a higher ceiling.
Bobb is incredible imo.

Last pre-season he was sensational and then broke his leg and missed the whole season, bar a couple cameos at the end iirc.

Come back and seems to have more or less picked up where he left off.

But Savinho is still top, top drawer potential and a genuine threat with a whole bag of tricks and turns to get in behind and cause havoc for defenders.

With further development will be lethal.

Anyone not wanting him - especially the situation we're in - just can't watch football at all.

Or shouldn't.

What could possibly go wrong at this stage?

Mr Marnakis gets what Mr Marnakis wants

Hopefully he/they get spanked out of Europe in the league phase.

You just know Levy has called up and said ‘we’re interested in your left footed wizard with big hopes of securing a World Cup place next summer’ whilst smugly armed with £20m in £5 and £10 notes, and Man City have misunderstood and thought he meant Savinho, mentioned 70 million and now he’s passed out somewhere near the F1 track.

The bit that frustrates me most is that we always seem to be behind with our targets Let me explain.

Mourinho had Kane and Son in the form of their lives while also getting a tune out of Ndombele and Hojbjerg. He just needed a top centre back (Sanchez, Dier, Tangana, Rodon were all starting regularly). He never got that top centre back. We signed Romero the summer after sacking him!

Conte
played a back 5 so our attacking options were fine. Bentancur and Hojbjerg had a great relationship in midfield and Deki Kane Son was a fantastic front 3. Conte needed better wing backs and a much better left sided centre back (Emerson, Sessegnon, Ben Davies all starters). We only signed Lenglet on loan. The summer after we sacked him we went and signed Porro, Udogie and Van De Ven!

Ange
had a better all around team but we'd obviously lost Kane which was a massive blow. His style required touchline wingers who could beat a man. Brennan Johnson and son were not them players. We only gave Ange Werner on loan and an 19 year old called Odobert. The summer after we sack Ange we go and sign 2 of the best dribblers in the league - Kudus and hopefully Savinho!

This trend is amazing isn't it. We seem to always be 12 months behind with our signings and never give the current manager exactly what they are looking for! It always felt like we had the perfect Conte team under Ange. Now it feels like we could have the ideal Ange team under Frank!

Spurs have been in squad rebuild mode arguably since 2021 when we bought Romero (or loan to buy) and, just like most other clubs are buying maybe 5 players a year so it takes about 5 years to get to a squad of circa 25 players

One key thing, often over looked by fans is player availability - eg some years no good GK's are available, other years a decent choice , Not to mention clubs often follow players for a couple of years before buying - David Pleat for example looked at son whilst he was at Hamburg whereas we bought Son from Bayer Leverkeusen about 3 - 4 years later.

Mourhino wanted a few players - with a DM being a key player for him, hence we bought Hojbjerg.

The average tenure of a PL manager is under 2 years and with a squad of 25, it should be no surprise the vast majority of players in the squad may not be their ideal players - but their job is to use the players they have. Sure they will influence players bought in next window but they will for the most part be dealing with other manager's preference for years - often leaving before even a third of players in squad are his choice..

Nothing amazing from your list. That's how the life of a football manager works at all clubs

It’s moving pretty quick.

City wanting Simons would make sense as the reason a deal could happen because Pep clearly wouldn’t let him go if he wasn’t getting something back from the club

This won't become a soap opera?

Do they not know who we are?
