Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Everyone seems to want to get rid of Johnson, but he's got us a lot of valuable goals last season and always good for a late run onto the back post. What's people's main issue with him? Is it consistency or lack of ability to beat a man and cross the ball?

He's still got age on his side too and should develop.

I don’t have an ‘issue’ with him personally. I think he’s a perfectly serviceable substitute and our version of a Harvey Barnes. He’s fine. On the ball though he’s really bad to watch, coughs up possession for fun and if he doesn’t score he may as well not play.

There were stretches of last season where he’d be starting and 4/5 games go by where you wouldn’t notice him. He then scores a brace against Ipswich and Southampton from a combined distance of 5 yards.

His profile has its place in the game but as a starter he’s just too limited. I’m very glad we seem to be targeting wide men who can create, progress the ball upfield and retain it in tight spots.

It’ll make us a lot less of a chore to watch and a lot less predictable imo.

I think many of us are ok with him coming off the bench, but he seems to be a guaranteed starter and he’s just too flawed to be a starter on a top team.

Can’t beat a man. Can’t pick a pass. Can’t do anything in build up.

He actually can press but not consistently. And he’s woeful off the ball except in the oppo box, although he did show some improvement in the latter half of the season.

Hes also a good example of how bad this club is at scouting. It was easy to see at Forest that he was a 1 dimensional pace merchant.

I'd keep him, but he's well below the standard of being an important player sadly. Great kid, but his game is too limited. Come on against tired legs when we're spamming crosses and he's a good fit. But having the game drift by him for 85 mins a game can't be done anymore.

If we get savinho and eze that will raise the window to 8 for me.

Only 8 because we need a striker too but I hope solanke steps up this year if we got eze and sav in he can't exactly complain about service
Be a 7 for me, because they've missed the preseason and it's put Frank on the back foot off the bat. But agreed, next summer a new striker, CB, LB and keeper all need bought. And hopefully, a top CM.

But with Solanke up top, it's a bit grim.

I understand we can't get them all but savinho and eze would be a start imo give frank the tools at least. Give him a pickaxe rather then an end of a toothbrush
