Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is one of my biggest issue with this ownership assuming we get Eze. He’d assumingely be more expensive than MGW so why did we waste time this whole time if we had the funds. Does it really take injuries for this ownership to spend? Why didn’t we go for Eze earlier in the summer? If he were to come in now he’d need some time integrating. Mourinho wasn’t kidding when he said Levy prioritizes top 4 finishes over cups.
100% those that keep saying c amount of days left in transfer window don’t get it. We should have these players in weeks ago so they get pre season with new coach and team mates. Anyways would we be goi g for anyone if MADDs didn’t get injured. As for wide players the club decided tel was worth buying at £45M but we still need to get better. So what was the point?

Sign Malik Fofana. He is a super talent, 20 years old, ambidextrous, can play left and right winger. Similar player to Savinho and similar potential, but he costs half price.

You are too focused on PL market. Abroad you can find several top players at fair prices.
The reason for this is that Levy is still burned from the Ndombele and Lo Celso transfers.

Ever since then we've paid the extra 'PL tax' for mid level players from lower teams like Johnson, Solanke, Maddison, now Kudus.

For those who think Levy leaks transfer stories that he doesn’t intend to follow through on, he’s made a massive mistake if these two collapse and we get tonked tomorrow. The protest before Burnley could be febrile…

The idea that he plants "we tried" stories out there to scupper protests an similar only to not follow through when the protests die down is just silly in my opinion. Because that does nothing but postpone said protests at best.

Levy is a silly man but not that silly.

It's more likely these stories do the rounds to pacify his own managers.
"We twied to get you Moutinho and Hulk, but we couldn't, so hewe's Dempsey and Adebeyowah"

Transfer news: Isak 'determined' to leave Newcastle; Spurs exploring Eze deal

I

I'm sure he would prefer Woolwich but it seems they need to shift players first. There's a window there for us if we move fast.

The most promising thing is Romano said Eze is keen. I assumed we backed off cos we knew he wanted Arse, but maybe it isn't that simple.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if Palace ask for too much and he stays there.
For what its worth - the story I've been told is this.

Spurs were all over MGW from the get go this Summer and were waiting for his release clause to become valid in July. MGW and Spurs was a done deal from early June. All personal terms agreed and the agent didn't raise any concerns about the RC. Spurs didn't want West Ham to get the impression that they had all this money so waited until the Kudus deal got done before making the MGW bid. Lets not forget that west ham were furious about selling kudus to spurs and were originally quoting us for 80m and saying they'll wait for Chelsea!

But long story short - Spurs had MGW down as their priority signing. He was Frank's number 1 target so Spurs dropped all interest in Eze back in June. Woolwich and Eze been in talks all Summer but Woolwich have prioritised other moves and I'd imagine Eze would be a bit pissed off with them for signing Madueke before him. Since then it sounds like their talks have stalled. Woolwich want Eze but do they want him enough? Eze wasn't on Frank's original list but that was only because the club were convinced MGW was joining. The Maddison injury has definitely escalated our interest too.

Sounds plausible

I would have actually preferred MGW to Eze, though I think either could be great Tottenham players. If we get Eze and Savinho then this has been the best window in the last 10 years at least. Big IF tho.

So many more than NDombele.
Soldado, Janssen, Mido (after loan), Njie n Nkudou, Chriches, Fazio, Rebrov (pre ENIC), and many, many more.
**These are all players that came to Spurs from overseas, not from domestic teams**

Kudus - Eze - Savinho

As an attacking trio behind Solanke (playing as a striker, between the width of the posts like he did at Bournemouth) is a very exciting prospect.

All three of them individually can demand teams double up on them, but with three of them - double up on one and the other two will destroy you.
Agreed and this in itself is the lock pick.

They aren't the type to thread a through ball to unpick a defence.

But the ability to beat a defender is how to unlock a low block. It causes the defence to bring someone else across to cover and creates space for our players elsewhere.

Regardless I still think we need a better passer in midfield. Someone that can move the ball quick, play long range, switch play and has a good weight of pass. I still believe Donley can be that player.

Yeah massive IF. Eze and his agent might just be playing us to get Woolwich to hurry up. I still see the Eze deal as very unlikely.

Savinho should get done. We've a clean run at him and City have identified a replacement. Levy just penny pinching but it should get over the line.
