Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They were pretty stupid not to sell him to the Barcodes last summer (IIRC?) for a lot more.

Well, they won the FA cup so I guess they will say it paid off for them.

But yeah I do wonder what happened there. Newcastle kept making bids but they obviously didn't reach the asking price. I wonder if it was Newcastle being tight or Palace asking too much.

Palace do seem pretty tough to buy from. I hope they don't have unrealistic demands for Eze.

Never liked Cucarella

Spending a club record fee for a 23-year old playing in the Croatian league in April certainly is unexpected.

The nature of the risk involved there, and the subtlety and athletic non-obviousness of Modric's gifts, that's Levy's greatest ever deal, for me.
Was great getting to watch him at Euro 2008 knowing he was already our player, pretty convinced we never would have got him but for maneuvering so early for him, would have ended up at a much bigger club off his showing.

I also remember Wenger in the preview of Euro 2008 saying / predicting Modric would flop in the PL as he was too weak
I don't think Wenger ever actually said those words, pretty sure it was 'Arry that claimed that, as his staff were telling him at the time he wasn't strong enough to play CM and should stay at LM, and he said Wenger turned down the chance to sign him for similar reasons. I think his actual given reason was that they had Cesc Fabregas at the time and £16.5m wasn't a cheap deal to do for a backup CM for Woolwich at that time.

Eze has been playing as a 10 in Glasner's 3-4-2-1 for the last 1.5 years, where width is provided by wingbacks almost exclusively. Granted that this doesn't tell much about his playmaking ability against teams that sit back since Palace under Glasner play a quite direct brand of football, but it shows that he is at least playable in a central role.

If we're going to get one of the two then Eze makes more sense from a positional standpoint, even though Savinho seems more appealing in a vacuum.
I suspect we’ll play a similar direct style this year. Will be good enough to get Europa which would be an improvement!

I think there's a case to be made, with a player who isn't in your plans, for him to have a mysterious injury or a 'rest' prevent him from participating whilst he is shopped around, and not cast as a malcontent with a disciplinary problem. But Frank is boss

Biss still being here isn’t Franks fault. That’s on Lange, Vinny and Levy

Frank bumping his price down might help accelerate their negotiations even if they didn’t ask him to say that
