Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I read something last year that his release clause goes dormant once the season starts and before the window closes

I floated it on this board and no one replied …. My unpopularity aside I took this as no one knew fuck all

So yeah I’m kinda with you … I’ve read it doesn’t carry on throughout all the window

But I certainly couldn’t confirm

I don't think the release clause matters now.

Nobody is paying it, clearly not.

You don't have to pay the release clause if the selling club is willing to accept a different amount(whether higher or lower)

Palace probably want ut done so they can invest in good time before the window shuts.

If he’d rather spend money elsewhere though?
I know, Frank clearly considers Davies as fit for purpose as a left back in 2025 as much as I wish he wouldn't.

He's the gaffer, so it goes.

If we spend to adequate levels and his choices of which players to prioritize and trust causes failure, well, we have entered a new space where the finger of blame can be rationally pointed somewhere other than Levy.

Oh fucking hell, that sad little prick is back is he? The man who had ties to Conte but somehow still gets info on the most public deal of the year.

He is the most attention seeking saddo on there.

Obviously a pure guess. If it gets announced tomorrow he can claim ITK.

If it isn’t, he will delay until it’s done and make some excuses. If it falls through he will blame some random reason for his ITK being bullshit (like it always is). Fuck me.

But apart from that, you like him?

they're not the same type of player and there's a reasonable case to say we need El K's passing more than Eze's skillset. Esp with Madz out for so long, Kulu till Xmas (?) and Donley clearly not ready for this type of challenge.

Who's going to provide the clever passes that unlock the Burnley type 4-4 low block?
El Khannouss passing didn’t look all that against Wednesday tbf, he gave the ball away a couple of times early on, even with a couple of simple passes. Overhit two in behind as well. second half he was a bit better and had 2 good crosses, but nothing I thought oh, clever/good passer, definitely not above Eze in that sense. 1 game granted.

Personally though I don’t buy into these passer or dribbler boxes . Maddison could do both fairly well. good midfielders can, they all need to manipulate the ball in traffic, they need to go past someone if it’s on. That opens up the game more than someone just pinging crossfield passes or hitting a nice looking verticals ball into someone if you’re not really disrupting the shape of a team. I don’t think you need great passers if you have a lot of good technical players that can handle the ball and are really good 1 on 1. that opens up the space for simple passes to become effective.

My one fear with Eze is that it's all driven by Ben Jacobs and Romano,

Not a peep from Ornstein as yet.

Yeah, especially because Ornstein is traditionally the Woolwich journalist before he started doing more broad transfer news. And if he's quiet, is it because he expects Woolwich to come in for Eze and so is waiting for that to be the one to break it.

Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised. I think we will get Sirvio but I would not at all be surprised if we get Orstein dropping an exclusive over the next 48 hours saying Arsenall in advanced talks with Palace and Eze has agreed terms.

I can just see it coming a mile off.
