I think they want to push Dowman and Nwaneri forwards and not block their paths. Why they went for Madueke instead of Eze i don’t know, but now they have I do t think they are interested in Eze any longer

Savinho has gone very quiet - I’m assuming it all depends on if City get Rodrygo

The only thing which makes me slightly confident is I just don’t think Woolwich are seriously in for him. They’ve had all window to get a deal done and by all accounts haven’t even made an offer, whilst prioritising signings like madueke, also nwaneri just signed a new deal they might not want to block his path by adding another 10.
Yeah I agree and that is our best hope. If Woolwich go for him then they'll get him. That is the scary reality and why I'm refusing to get too excited about the potential Eze signing.

But it does feel like Woolwich don't want him as much as we do. They signed Madueke for big money when they knew they could have gotten Eze for a little more. Like you said, if they really wanted Eze they'd have signed him earlier. Now it seems like they'll only go for Eze if they can sell some players first.

I'd like to think this whole ordeal has pissed Eze off and it does sound like Eze is keen to join us now. I just have this niggling feeling that if Woolwich decide to bid for him that Eze would still prefer to go there so it feels like we need to wrap this up quick or it'll turn into an even nastier saga than MGW.

At the risk of rose tinted accusations - I think we have a good appeal to him as well

While they will be expected to be in the title race (theyll also be expected to choke 😄 )

Same with CL

They have a lot of competition in the positions he would play, and almost certainly he would be pushed out to LW with Madueke breathing down his neck

Conversely, we can offer him the #10, the platform to shine - and basically no competition - in a world cup year

My gut says Eze has been Spurs since day 1, but the Palace appeal and Charity shield delayed a move. I don't think he wants the scum at all, if anything the Woolworths noise is to force our hand.

That's it.

I get a feeling both clubs are waiting for the clause to expire so they can make an offer structured better for them. £70m spread over 5 years rather than £60m upfront. If that's the case then he'll go to Woolwich.

However, I don't think he'll be guaranteed game time there, as Odegard is captain and he's not an outright LW. He'd start weekly for us in the 10 and be our main creator.
That makes no sense whatsoever, Palace can receive and accept any structure of offer right now, the expiry of a release clause gives them more power not less, and inversely buying clubs have less leverage once it expires.

I agree on the first part the release clause is null and void at this point.
But palaces power is only getting weaker at this point as ezes value is only going downwards. 68m release clause obviously isn't getting payed. I think if us or gooners get him this summer it will be around 60m, by January that drops to 50m and by next summer probably around the 40m mark.

Palace actually want to sell this summer imo, and 68m hasn't happened which was there best result possible

He’s 28 next June, his current contract expires June 2027.

Palace don’t have the power unless they’re financially flush.

Equally Eze has one more move/decent contract in his career. If he wants to play CL he needs to leave and probably by no later than next summer. And at that point his value in the market is considerably less.

Spurs or any other buying club are arguably in the strongest position…

With Romero & VDV it will be difficult for any CB to get a starting place and therefore we will only get someone who is prepared to play second fiddle until Romero leaves.
Pal, neither of them has ever played a full PL season. And it ain't just injuries, their performances were sometimes (often?) poor even when fit.

Romero's record? 22, 27, 33 and 18. And I don't expect the fact he's now been given the armband to change that...I reckon he'll play between 20-25 league games this season, but ofc I hope I'm wrong and he plays 38 at a POTY level.

Micky played 27 his first year and just 13 last season. Like Romero, I hope he's turned a corner and can play even 30 league games this season, but that looks a big ask based on recent history.

Of our current CB options, the only one you can really trust to be fit and at the level all year is Danso. Our friend Ben should always be seen as the 5th pick, just here in case of emergency. Takai shouldn't even be in the convo, neither should Dragusin even when he's fit again.

So yeah, if I'm a decent CB, especially a left-footed one, I'm defo backing myself to join Spurs and play a lot of games.

All gone a bit quiet on the Savinho and Eze transfers........

I think one or both get done today and announced before the game.

Either that or they announce tomorrow to take the press away from the result tonight if it's bad.
