The only leverage Palace might have regarding Eze is a potential bidding war. That's it.

Except none of the suitors seem very enthusiastic about the player. If Woolwich actually were, they would've gotten the deal over the line already. They seem as lukewarm and opportunistic about the situation as us.

Palace are cornered here, unless they are really confident that selling him in January is a viable option.

I agree that Woolwich would have went early for him if they really wanted him.

So Eze will use spurs to get a better contract at Woolwich
And we have to hope that man city will get rodrygo so we can sign savinho

Im not optimistic for a happy ending in those cases.
Highly likely neither of these happen.

Eze will go to the Goons if they move for him and unless City get Rodrygo they will eventually tell us fuck off with regards to Savinho.

Sorry to be the cynic but this absolutely REEKS of an old fashioned “we tried” from Levy, especially in the lead up to the start of the season when he knows protests are ramping up again…

Can't see Eze going to the goons - if that was going to happen, then why hasn't it happened before now. Plus they've already spent 216m euros - the most they've ever spent in a transfer window apparently - are they going to add another 60mil on top?

Also, reports suggest that City need to sell Savinho to be able to get Rodrygo so it's a case of who blinks first I would imagine.

The fact that Palace haven't made any major moves yet this summer actually increases, does not decrease, the possibility of Eze getting moved soon.

They're probably looking for that Eze -and Guehi- money to grease the wheels before the window shuts.

Yeah I'm starting to reach the point where I don't think we bring anyone else in

By the time we get the door slammed in our face by Eze and Savinho , the likes of El Khannous will have already been snapped up

I genuinely think our strategy is to drag these two deals out as close to the end of the month as possible and use it as an excuse for no more incomings

Where this club is concerned , cynicism should be the order of the day

The optimism of the last 48 hours is quickly vanishing with no news of progress.

I know we can't expect minute by minute updates, but fucking hell our season starts on Saturday.

If we had done good business already I'd be more relaxed but the jeapordy involved in these two deals is something else.

If we get these two we look every bit top 4 challengers and suddenly a serious side.

If we don't, we look so midtable it's beyond a joke. Seriously though, if we go into the season with odobert Tel and no top quality 10 in our attack kwe are utterly fucked and so is Frank.

We simply have to get these deals over the line. I am afraid it really is that important.

I agree on the first part the release clause is null and void at this point.
But palaces power is only getting weaker at this point as ezes value is only going downwards. 68m release clause obviously isn't getting payed. I think if us or gooners get him this summer it will be around 60m, by January that drops to 50m and by next summer probably around the 40m mark.

Palace actually want to sell this summer imo, and 68m hasn't happened which was there best result possible
Well yeah, but that's due to getting closer to contract expiry with each passing window, main point is that clubs aren't waiting for the clause to expire before making a move. That's entirely counter intuitive, once it's gone if Palace want to then they can just quote a fuck-off price of £100m or whatever.

Whilst it remains active they will be more inclined to negotiate reasonably because if they don't then a club could just activate the clause and take them out of the loop entirely.

Basically if a club wants him this summer, their best shot is to sort out a deal whilst the clause is active, not wait until it's expired.

Another thing is I was looking at our midfield, it's pretty shite isn't it. Compared to the top sides.

Bentancur, Bissouma, Gray, Bergvall, Sarr, Palinha, meh.

Not one of them you could say you would be confident is top or capable of delivering a top season.

If we sign eze and Silvio it makes it less important.

But if we don't sign those two, our shite attack combined with a very underwhelming midfield doesn't bode well

As mad as it sounds its actually the most familiar outcome we've seen with high ambition moves like these two together
