I am also starting to think it's going to be Eze or Savio if we are lucky.
I just can't see Levy doing both deals.
I think he will view it as Eze can cover 10, and when Kulu is back, Eze then shifts wide left. Because of course we always do the bare minimum.
The only evidence we have that we are going for both players is from Romano's reports. And he could very well be wrong.
I do remember from two years ago, when there was loads of speculcation that we would be signing VDV and another CB, and the fan base was going crazy excited, Romano was always adament it would only be only one. That was it, it was when we were linked with VDV and the Leverkusen CB. And we all hoped both would be signed, and Romano was always 100% certain it was one or the other, and it was.
So if he's saying we are going for both, I hope he's spot on again.
Because surely Savio is Son's replacement, and Eze is because of Maddison's injury.

I can’t believe how bad Ederson was over the two legs - he and Onana had a massive impact on that run and then Onana helped us again last season in the final.I still can't believe sterling kicked it that far!

I want us to have a fit #10 heading into the season. I want us to have more than one senior LB not named Ben Davies. I wanted a squad I felt I could rely on in 4 competitions this season. We have none and the PL kicks off in 72 hours.
I see no reason to believe we’ll pull off both deals in a timely manner.
We have twenty-five years of evidence saying we won’t pull them both off.
I think we all will be about 8pm!

They may also have said "can you hold on a few days while WE make some calls about a replacement"
City also likely calling in the recruiters for replacements.
Literally everyone could be busy with something else. Just because there isn't hourly updates doesn't mean it's all fallen apart and not happening.

I think it is entirely reasonable to expect Palace to want to do a deal for an Eze replacement before they sell - we would expect our club to do the same and considering it is extremely possible Eze would have stayed had Palace got into Europa, there might still be a bit of a wait here.
A small part of me wants us to get humped this evening by PSG, as it is a fairly nothing game that largely amounts to a pre-season friendly and winning might actually be more disastrous than losing, the optics of getting mauled by a proper CL-calibre team for the 2nd game on the trot might actually push the Eze/Savinho deals into overdrive.
