Based on the drop-off when we made subs yesterday, plus the fact that we obviously did well with a 3 at the back, Frank could make the following asks:
- CB (unless Vuskovic stays)
- DM (Gray doesn't convince me there at all)
- LW (neither Tel or Odobert are doing it for me there)
- 10 (we had little creativity and relied on runners)
Its a gamble with his fitness but I confess to being a big Richy fan

The season starts on Saturday. We currently have no number 10, Odobert and Tel as left wing options and 2 fit full backs. It really shouldnt have got to this stage and has once again been a poorly planned window.Some fans be like

Last night was great in terms of how we competed and on another day we win that very comfortably but quality is what we need.
Get Savinho and Eze done. We need players that can take the ball and get us up the pitch. We need players that can create against teams that sit in. Those two plus Kudus will find ways to open up those teams.
If we go into this season expecting Richy,Dom and Johnson to be able to play against st low block sides(and there will be many) then we will struggle big time especially at home. We need footballers that can create. Last night was a great base to play from in terms of looking solid,hard to play against and being physically imposing. Add some n quality to that and we will have a very good season. If we don’t add to it now we will end up mid table.
It’s on Levy and co to get this done.

Kinda leaning towards that we should be looking to bring in another specialist defensive midfielder because if Palhinha goes down for a decent period of time we are back to square one in terms of midfield balance.

I think Gray might end up there late on in his career, a bit like Jordan Henderson, but now he’s more of a box to box player.
Think the smart thing would be to do a scaled down version of what Chelsea have done. They had a mare with signings and team performance a couple of years ago but they kept going big and signing quality. Those failed signings look better now as more quality has come in and performance has gone up.

I agree and thats what we're targeting apart from the cdm.
We're not getting another midfielder apart from a dedicated 10. Gray will be given the time to grow into that role and rightly so. These things take time

I don't think we need a centre back, Dragusin and the Japanese lad are joining up at some point and there are going to be a lot of games where Ben will be fine in a back 3 if needed.
If we get Eze I don't think Frank is going to bother with a midfield schemer until Maddison and Deki are fit. I think Gundogan would be brilliant for a season, but I reckon he will go with Kudus and Eze as right and left sided inside forwards. That would be pretty interesting to see to be honest.
I know this is for the January thread, but I wouldn't be surprised we move Johnson on if we sign Savinho and Eze. Frank doesn't seem to rate him at all, which is weird since he wanted to sign Johnson at Brentford if I recall it correctly.
As for the DM, we have a good one ffs, but he can't seem to be arsed to be a professional for one whole year. Bissouma yesterday instead of Gray, and we win that game comfortably, knowing that Bissouma always shows up for the big games.
