Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he plays tomorrow, I can’t see that any deal is close. If it is and he does, that’s an ACL away from a £60m loss. Big gamble.
I see the argument. But they don’t seem desperate to sell Eze. Playing him would be very helpful to force Tottenham’s hand. If they play him there’s a 99.9% chance he is fine and it puts pressure on us to pay on their terms. There’s a 0.1% chance they lose it all.

Football teams do often have cycles and the ones that manage to refresh and recruit well can prolong those cycles and remain at the top for longer.
We can't change whats gone before unfortunately but we can push and call for the club to do what necessary to ensure we can build a team that can compete and have our own cycle and shot at the top just as we did under poch.

I think Frank's capable enough to lead a team fighting for top spot and hes surrounded but a fantastic team of coaches that all know each other very well and are well rounded.

We have some fantastic young players and a couple of established players coming into their prime. If we can just and the 2 or 3 we've been linked with recently there's no reason why by next season we can be challenging to top teams.

Pool - refreshed this summer but remains seen how it pans out once salad and vvd leave.

Gooners - its this season or bust for them. I think if they faulted early then they could collapse and not even make top 5. Its potentially a very volatile situation.

Chelsea - building nicely but they are prone to collapsing and having to scrap it all and go again. Im not sure they will continue upwards over the next 2 seasons.

City - will always have the money and player but idk pep doesn't seem the same and I think he will bow out soon. City look less and less like a pep team every season.

I suspect very few of the moaners would be happy if we won a trophy every five years. We win a trophy less than 3 months ago and look at the commentary over the summer.

You think winning an FA cup in five years would change that?

Or would it be the trophy in ten years that would finally make them happy?

The point of those comments isn’t to make anyone actually go to support another team. As you say no one expect that. It’s to get them to consider what they really value about supporting spurs. To read a lot of their posts, it’s hard to see what they even like about it.
I’ve got most of the doom-mongers on ignore and have done for a while, so things may have changed, but it’s always complaints about the lack of spending, be that on fees, now on wages, normally on both. Or complaining about concerts. The infrastructure of the club staff. Ticket prices.

Lots of “there used to be a football club there” talk, yet very few posts on here that mention the actual football. And it’s always just “spend more”, but never to an end goal. It’s really fascinating, the people who complain constantly, yet don’t know or can’t articulate what would make them happy. It’s a shame too.

This is the thing, you're saying that the praise for the stadium only has a finite shelf life, but posters are happy to still mention Nuno as a shit hire, or slam Levy for not backing Poch after the CL final loss. Which is it? his perceived successes are only talked about short term, but his failures are mentioned for decades?
You say how long does he get credit for the stadium? Well it's a success story right? So forever....how long does Bill Nicholson get credit for the double in 61, or has that been and gone now?
I'm far from a Levy apologist, but you've painted me as that because I'm prepared to give praise for success as well as give judgement on his failures. Because that's the fair thing to do right?

You've also labelled this window as a failure, it's not over yet. If we spend £200m+ on a brand new attack then I'd say most fans will be happy. However you're writing it off before it's over.
A lot to unpack here... he gets credit for the stadium no question but you can't hang on to that when you told the world it would allow us to compete when the exact opposite is happening. You, like many dont really see why he really built that stadium. Despite what he says he did not build it to benefit the team. It's the crown jewel in a property empire to increase the value of his asset. It's simple. The clue is in the third word of his company title...

By the way. Winning the double on the field will always outweigh anything built out of bricks and mortar. As Bill Nic's captain said the game is about glory not property portfolios. I added the last bit for emphasis.

This window is a failure. That's a fact. The rest is conjecture.

Problem being, he’s also our only threat to score if we play this way and constantly tracking back means that he never gets a chance to do what he does best.

Unless he’s that rare breed like Son and Kane under Jose or Conte that take the one chance they get every game
He got up and down the field remarkably well in Wednesday.

He had to really to help break up their play - but a lot of opponents won't be quite as dangerous that he has to do that.

We win a trophy less than 3 months ago and look at the commentary over the summer.

Oh come on, posters want to follow up on that success and strengthen the team, push on, like we didn't do after reaching the Champions League final, and the bloke that managed the team in the Europa final win was sacked because the league form was diabolical, unacceptable.

However the club are more important now on the international football scene after winning the recent trophy, so now is a good time to recruit better players and push on.

It's debatable that some of the players in the squad are good enough, and the club needs at least one star player to replace Son.

If you want to ignore all this and put it down to moaning, that's up to you, I don't think you're being very reasonable though.

I suspect if Eze and Savinho are acquired this transfer window (the clock is ticking) you'll see less of what you seemingly consider to be a negative waste of time on the forum.

I don’t get this “go and support another team rhetoric , it’s obvious Jaynola is a proper yid , and a passionate one, I guess like most of us on here he uses this site to vent , we don’t all have to all agree with each other or it would get very boring ,I think he is wrong about Kulu and I think Dragu will be good without Ange ball tactics so i agree he would make a good squad player, but he is entitled to his opinion and it doesn’t make him any less of a good , any way I’m going off on a tangent so I’ll stop , it just annoyed me with the “go and support someone else bit” but if someone on the site annoys you so much just block them!
