Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In the days of teletext nobody gave two shits about club finances but now fans are all mini Levys.

Just a period of far less info and understanding (the latter not being universal).

With info comes nuance and minutia.

...Simpler, happier times though? I'd say so.

It is what computer games have done to us all.

Last time I played a football manager game it would have been on BBC micro in the 80s.

Regardless; it shouldn't take being a computer games nut to understand (nor appreciate) that if you have £100m and need 2 players and the first one costs 90m then your options on the other will be extremely limited.

People that don't recognise that logic are either disingenuous or desperately stupid.

Its worse than that. One minute they're whining we don't spend enough, the next they're penny pinching on household names.

I'm far from a Levy fanboi but fucking hell people, pick a side.

Or better still lets just dispense altogether with "sides" and rigid one-track philosophy?

I want Eze; yet I think 70m+ for Sav is an awfully expensive gamble (for someone that I wouldn't consider a "household name").

............Which 'side' should that place me on?

Of course, but there is too much focus on it nowadays. Common sense doesnt always need stating, it is just common sense.

Yet it's so frequently lacking in practice (i.e. these discussions).

Ultimately people keep saying "It's not your money... Why do you care?" and making the same puerile sarcastic "Leeds" reference....... If not for those 2 things neither of us would have felt necessary to post our respective comments.

.......So evidently the "common sense" is not "common" enough amongst us.

I haven't heard anything since the inaccurate info I provided last week. But I am still optimistic a deal gets done. Pep rarely (if ever) gets in the way of a player leaving. If you look at the Lewis situation, he's been quick to address that and publicly confirm Rico doesn't wish to leave. He hasn't done that with Ederson or Savinho because both want to leave.

Even if Savinho was told he'd get increased minutes, the guy wants to be playing as many as possible to make the World Cup squad. The return of Bobb should increase the chances of them letting Savinho go and I think they're rightfully delaying a deal to avoid the possibility of him facing them on his debut.

I hope it's not a deal we hang all our hopes on though and that we have a deadline as I don't want the club to be in a position where we have a few days left and he signs a new deal/we can't agree a fee.

For now I choose to stay optimistic and hope behind the scenes progress is being made. I cannot stress how good of an addition I feel he would be. Having him & Kudus on our wings is a night and day compared to previous seasons and would make us VERY difficult to play against"

he's an absolute fucking idiot

Oh we PAY alright....
Same people complaining about the astronomical ticket prices... But only cos it wasn't going straight back into the team....
So for once now it might...
So yes, we are kinda helping pay for it...

Welk... Us and Beyoncé!
It's us that pays, but we'll pay anyway, unfortunately.
I'd rather my money went on fees and player wages than all of it on Levy and TV execs.

probably not, but you can see why no ones triggered the release clause now cant ya. theres better value out there.
Depends what is meant by better value, which is not a constant and fluctuates due to market forces.

His release clause certainly helped to determine his market value as no one was prepared to pay it.

Better value could mean a number of things i.e. paying less than market value or paying a bit more for twice the player.

It is subjective but I think a fee of circa £55m+ add ons is about right for Eze given his quality and age. As an asset the combined cost of his purchase price and wages reduce (amortisation) not increase therefore his age come end of contract is not that relevant because hopefully he will have done his job.

I love how "Pep doesn't usually stand in the way of players who want to leave" is being dressed up as ITK.

Fuck me that site is special.

Kulu is going to take a loooong time to get upto speed.
First number of appearances his touch will be off, he will be rusty as hell, look slow and like an ikea wardrobe out there.

Don't count of kulu contributing pre xmas, its hopeful to think so.
If you ask bus-conductor bus-conductor the bolded isn’t too dissimilar to his ‘in-form’ form.
