Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Don't we need someone for the here and now though, or could he do that? Just we already have Tel and Odobert and Moore that we are hoping can grow into better players, £70 million should get you someone to start , is Savio that? genuine question as I don't watch enough of City to know.

And he is not a first team starter at City - which begs the question about fee, if Pep doesn't start him regularly how good is he and is he worth 70m ?,

Yeah I get Pep is not always the best Judge of a player, Palmer springs to mind, but apart from him what other potential superstars have they let go?
They paid £30 million for him last season, from there own club , the fact they are supposedly turning down £60 million for a player Pep is happy to let go is mental

Akliouche would only be about 10-15m less. I've not watch alot of him but the price difference looks to be justified with akliouche playing in French league with ok stats compared to save in Spain and also starting well in the pl. Hes not even a left winger or a comparable player to savio.

Then factor in the commercial side of things of having a 21 year old Brazilian national, a huge market for pl clubs and it just doesn't seem right to me.
Yea, I don't think this akliouche link is genuine.

Id take either player but we're comparing apples to oranges on these 2.

A million other youth players were playing regularly in the Premier League? Scoring EL goals? Playing for France u21’s as well?

That’s absolute drivel and you know it. Odobert is in the top 5% of wingers in his age group in Europe when it comes to experience at the top level, there aren’t millions of those.

You chat some utter shit if it gives you an excuse to talk down any player we have.

Jarrod Bowen was still at Hull for example

You will literally hype up a turd if it it is a turd in a spurs shirt ... any hint of talent and we may as well have the next pele or maradona ... we have a right back who plays well for ten games and he's better than one of the best in the world. Its beyond silliness.

There have been so many Odoberts. What's he done, scored a handful or less premier league goals? Maybe Bowen was still at Hull. Can fucking tell you Odobert in his current form isn't scoring more than five in a championship season. He offers so, so little outside of stuff that loads and loads of talented wingers offer.

As you asked nicely,,,

I thought it obvious that they wouldn’t sell to us or they would really try to pull our pants down on the price. They despise us at that club ever since the 1981 FA Cup final. Then the kane non-bid when we stood up to them instead of bending over and taking it like they expected us to.
Paul O'Keefe said it's "Ferran", ie Shitty CEO Ferrran Soriano, who doesn't want to sell Savinho.

So, their hierarchy may no longer trust Pep's judgement on the ability of their young players, after the Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers clusterfucks etc. I note Shitty apparently put a buy back clause into the McAtee to Forest deal.

I know Levy accepted a Real Madrid buy back clause for Reguilon (lol), but that was a much cheaper deal. I can't see Levy agreeing to a buy back for a £70 million transfer fee.

Secondly, the rumours suggest Pep wants to replace Savinho with Rodrygo. They are similar players, but 21-year-old Savinho is on £40k pw and 24-year-old Rodrygo on £240k. Both would want pay rises at new clubs, but Savinho will probably be around £100k and Rodrygo may be looking for c£300k. Shitty will try to screw us for every last penny, but even £70 m for Savinho probably wouldn't pay the transfer fee that RM will want for Rodrygo. From the financial perspective, Ferran & Shitty's hierarchy may prefer to keep Savinho.

I don't think Levy will be prepared to overpay for Savinho, and I certainly donlt think he wants to help Shitty get a player we would love to sign (Rodrygo, or Plan B Xavi Simons). I suspect we're likely to see if there's another left-sided attacker on Lange & Paratici's list.

Is Savio really that Good though? Surely if he has all the potential to be world class he would be able to force his way into Peps team? To me it seems a huge gamble to pay £70 million for Potential

Edit - I just read you don't think he is worth £70 million!
I think to have had a season like his last at Girona and to have been pretty productive in his first PL season with City despite playing roughly half of available league minutes for them would suggest the sky is the limit for him really, he's not even at that point around 23-24 where you see players really fill out their adult frame and start to hone and perfect the parts of their game from good or very good to elite level. Comparisons to Odobert and Tel are unhelpful IMO, neither player would get a sniff of a start for City realistically so seems odd to lump Savinho in with those two, who still managed to start 21 PL games for City.
