It does mitigate the risk, but it also depends on the add-ons. Some are ridiculously easy to achieve.

Quite... And I have no idea about those relating to the RM bloke. You?

I have a hunch we're negotiating something similar with City, rather than £70m guaranteed. More like 60+10, or thereabouts.

Again.... That would help, but a £60m downside for potential is still quite a hefty risk.

I understand feeling the need to justify his signing since he still plays for us and is still at a juncture where he could prove at least a worthwhile signing if not a little expensive, but I refuse to believe anyone thinks £65m was his true value, even Bournemouth fans must have been pretty shocked when we paid up what was essentially a "fuck off" price put on a player to deter bids.

Look, he's a little gooner cunt now and I want so badly for him to fail, I really do, I also don't put that much stock into the Portuguese league and think it takes less talent than people ascribe to Gyokeres to score prolifically over there, but if you put a gun to my head and asked me who has a better chance by the end of their contract of looking like a £65m player I'm going Gyokeres every day because there's no world where Dominic Solanke will ever look like being worth that amount of money, there's a chance albeit slim that Gyokeres will replicate his feats in Portugal once he gets going and I'm gonna avoid writing him off so early as it would be typical Spurs luck that we do that loudly and often if eg he is goalless through their first 5 and then goes on to bang 20+ PL goals. I'll wait til May.

But you know for a fact Solanke can score 20 league goals and that IS a 65m striker.

You will literally hype up a turd if it it is a turd in a spurs shirt ... any hint of talent and we may as well have the next pele or maradona ... we have a right back who plays well for ten games and he's better than one of the best in the world. Its beyond silliness.

There have been so many Odoberts. What's he done, scored a handful or less premier league goals? Maybe Bowen was still at Hull. Can fucking tell you Odobert in his current form isn't scoring more than five in a championship season. He offers so, so little outside of stuff that loads and loads of talented wingers offer.
Spot on all the way, brother.

40mil on Tel, 30 on Odobert and imagine 70 on Savinho...that's 140mil we couldn't put towards an absolute superstar.

I can do other positions if you'd like.

That Himothy on X seems to be connected too..

He called it that someone at City was blocking the Sav deal and then Romano came out with the same news afterwards.

Was also bang on about MGW saga.

Hercules, he only ever seems to post stuff when it’s already in the public domain. Never see him break anything regarding signings
they all hide behind their new fav statement / tag line " we passed it on in house (to mods/site owners) days ago "

LOL total bunch of

So straight forward you've given up on trying to explain it.
Getting a straight answer out of him isn't possible. I've given up. If Solanke was worth £65m, when in reality, even half that is steep, then I've absolutely no issue with the club paying the same for a kid that looks like he has world-class potential.

Already performed very well as a teen in a top league with 19 G/A's, and hitting double digit assists in the PL at 20, at one of the best teams in the world, as not a nailed on starter. That's fairly outrageous.

But yeah, buying proven average players at a hugely inflated price is definitely the way to go 🙄

[Sacha Tavolieri] Savinho set to stay in Manchester City! X Even if Guardiola pushed for Rodrygo move, Pepe faces some internal headwinds that blocked the deal now almost over as Rodrygo NEVER asked formally to Real Madrid he wanted to leave.

But you know for a fact Solanke can score 20 league goals and that IS a 65m striker.
Solanke at £65m is putting a hell of a lot of stock in the idea that he is simply hitting his prime and will now consistently bang around 20 league goals a season regardless of where he plays in the future, and disregarding the very important fact he did it once (scored 6 the season before..) for a Bournemouth side who completely focused their attack through him and played him in virtually every minute of every game allowing him to maintain momentum, and the simple fact of the matter is for a player of his talents a club of our size has absolutely no business building a team around him to just about squeeze 20 league goals out of him. I even think Richy has shown far more sign of justifying his fee despite his injury issues because the one season we could keep him relatively fit I might be wrong but I'm fairly sure he had more goals/90 than Erling Haaland.
