Sounds like our terms are acceptable but Palace have been jerking us around? Two weeks ago it would have been "we need Eze to play in the Community Shield/need to line a replacement up." Last week it was "we're decimated with injuries/we need to line a replacement up." Now it's "we need him to make sure we don't screw up our chance at getting into Europe for the first time ever/we need to finalize our replacement." They had no real motivation to sell quickly, waiting to see if someone else would jump into the race was probably part of their strategy all along.
I get the frustration and the anger, this fucking sucks should it come to pass, but "we should have just closed it sooner" is making a lot of assumptions that no one on this forum has any clue about whatsoever. The only concrete thing that could have been done was paying the crazy amount up front to trigger the release clause, but no club really does business like that (hence the fact that nobody stepped up to trigger Eze's release clause). Beyond that, the ball has been in Palace's court as much as, if not moreso than in ours.
