Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He is a mercurial talent and possibly worth a punt, but he cannot be a first choice option at all. I could see us buying him as a backup/rotation option.

Although it’s concerning that people close to him say he doesn’t really like football and is seeking a pay day. Not the mentality you want in a young player.
He's another Archie Gray. Might become good, but if we're relying on him to be our starter in the Champions League, then God help us.
We don't need another "talent", we need established players who can get this squad to the next level.

This is precisely why most of Spurs recent deals have come out of nowhere. Spurs know that as soon as it is public knowledge that a player is available at a certain price - the bigger clubs will simply take over. That is why Spurs were forced to outrageously overpay for the likes of Solanke & Richarlison.

Eze's camp made the move public - Spurs were allegedly fuming. Palace accepted the offer early, and Eze agreed personal terms - but stalled signing the deal. Clearly his agent went to Woolwich and was asked to wait whilst they worked out the finances.

If Savinho is available for 50-60m, Spurs will lose out to Newcastle who will desperately overpay.

The reason why CITY & CHELSEA were able to take a shortcut to becoming a big team was vastly overpaying for transfers and wages. Spurs are not willing to do that.

Everyone was reporting that an agreement was only reached with both club and player yesterday so it was quite clearly never agreed "early" considering we've been in negotiations for about 2 weeks and the idea that it was Eze's camp that made things public is also pretty daft considering things will naturally leak out if you take half a calendar year to negotiate.

Others I've forgotten

We do not need any more youngsters with potential. We need proven talent who instantly make the team better.

How is this even a discussion.

Danso is not a first XI for us because we have Romero. Danso probably walks in to most top teams in PL. I mean he would be Chelsea or United or Newcastle or Villa's best CB.

Danso is a proper good signing. No question about it
He’s not. People talking him up are not doing him any favours. He’s quite slow on the turn and not that reliable on the ball. He’ll be like Wimmer or Bassong who got talked up but the more they play it will start to sink in. Nothing against him but he’s a squad player at best.

I get the rage:

“But just pay the fucking release clause” Sorry it doesn’t work like that. No club is paying all the money upfront. There’s a reason both Woolwich and we negotiated a fee after the RC expired.

The fact is it doesn’t matter. Eze wanted to play for Woolwich more than he did for Spurs. That is the reality of our situation. The top players don’t want to come to us unless they really have to.

Now we can blame Levy for that. He’s ultimately responsible for Woolwich being a more attractive proposition for us but We’re in a league with historically much richer and bigger clubs.

We have the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool, Chelsea and unfortunately Woolwich. Woolwich were the one we could probably most compete with up until recently for players but unfortunately they are at the crest of their cycle at the moment where they are challenging for the biggest prizes. Through a combination of aggressive, high investment and good recruitment plus appointing a manager who is getting a lot out of them, they are the far more attractive project for players, especially ones who are Woolwich fans already.

We are seeing the same with Xavi Simons. We want him and we will match Chelsea’s offer right now. It’s around £60 million, we can do the deal, but Xaxi wants Chelsea. So what can we or levy do? Probably offer better wages which is where Levy becomes the issue. But then Chelsea might just pay more than we do regardless.

The problem we have is we are essentially about as attractive as a (or maybe a tiny bit more than) Villa or a Newcastle. Newcastle have lost out players to United and Woolwich and Liverpool already this summer.

This is the big problem with football. The best clubs continually hoover up the best talent to stop other clubs getting stronger. There is a finite number of players who would improve us, we want players to make us better and those same players are wanted by bigger clubs.

It’s shit for us fans. And our managers no doubt. That is why we need to push the boat out for players like Savinho when they are gettable and want to come.

One of my issues with Levy is that he’s too passive and doesn’t pay the salaries to help us overcome these hurdles. So yeah the fucking prick is still handicapping us and making it worse.

We need to be more aggressive. Our limited appeal to top players is compounded by Levy’s attitude and approach.

But on the Eze deal and even the MGW, I’m not going to say he fucked up. We’ve clearly tried to bring them in and been fucked over for different reasons. It stings but it’s just bad luck. That said what he can do is go and sign Savinho and a very good number 10. They are out there.just do the fucking deals.

And sorry but El Kannoush or Dibling is totally unacceptable. Fuck that.

Ultimately results are all that matter and Levy has a long history of failing to deliver top signings. He needs to go and we need someone in who has a new aggressive modern approach to building our team with quality signings.

I get it. We were fucked over but this fucking public hand wringing and woe is me attitude is absolutely pathetic.

We already know that Daniel would contrive some way to mess up, we knew that Eze only wanted them lot and now we find out the deal was done since 10th August which basically matched the buyout clause.

We also KNOW Levy ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.

We haven’t missed out on prime Bale, what doesn’t kill makes you stronger.

Suck it up and move on

Que fucking sera

Keep deluding yourself with that thought. The cunt will never leave. I've made my peace with it. I'm 27, so I have time ahead or me, but I do feel sad for the poor souls who will have to endure Levy's reign for the rest of their lives.

Levy will never sell. Its an ego thing. He believes his way is the right way and he will be proved correct in the end. Man City and Chelsea have proved FFP is a farce so Levy's stance has been pointless.

I should have thrown in the towel after the EL win as we all knew in our hearts that was as good as it was ever going to get.

I preferred the 70s and 80s when you could take your frustrations out on opposition fans. Now we are limited to social media. A poor substitute. 😇 😉

Agree.

It's about value for money which I absolutely agree with, but this window we are being messed around and looking amateur.

I dont believe Levy will be content with that.

But for me it's less the rejections, as to why we went after Eze, who clearly did not want the move.

Eze is a black guy, in the Dngland squad. Supposedly an Woolwich fan. Rice and Saka are there, plus they are further down the line. I get that. So unless you are going in with a huge bid, don't bother. Nd yet in saying that, Woolwich wouldn't have gone in fir him had they not suffered the Havertz injury, and for me it's the wrong signing, but fcuk the lot of them.

Levy needs a very strong 11 days or he will be hounded out and forced to sell.
I agree with all of that bar the forced to sell.

There’s nothing that can be done to force a sale. It will be on his terms at the value he considers fit. The fanbase throwing their toys out of their pram may force him into securing some transfers but IMHO it certainly won’t force him out.

Think we will get savinho now. Might have to pay over odds. But imo we will get him.
