Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We should just go and get who we can get at this stage. The board fucked the window yet again and there's only around 10 days left in the window. At the end of the day the squad is ridiculously short and needs some fucking kind of reinforcements, even if they're just bodies for rotation. If that's Dibling and El-Khanouss then just go and fucking get them. Don't waste anymore time pretending that your capable of deals on big players like Savinho, Rogers, Rodrygo or whoever the fuck else might pop up. Let's face the reality that we finished 17th last season because we had a shit squad and that needs some (any!) kind of improvment.
That would just dilute the squad with players not at the level we need and then people will moan why we don’t improve. You can’t just sign players so we have extra numbers. When they aren’t deemed good enough then we can never move them on. It’s stupidity.

Are we seriously to believe that we need to spend £70m ish on an attacking midfielder / winger? There must be decent options playing in other leagues that aren't commanding silly money for what would have been a £30m signing a year ago. Most of the players being bought from PL clubs at stupid money now were bought for under £20m in the not so distant past.

Those days are gone

Anyway, who cares what the transfer fee is?

25 years of winding up other chairmen is coming back to bite Levy big time. We are not a pleasant club to deal with, countless people in the game have said how painful it is to deal with Levy.

At this point clubs would prefer to deal with any club other than Tottenham, that’s why we can’t sign anyone important.

Yet the squad is already a mess.

I don’t want this, but that’s the reality of our level with this board. They aren’t capable of doing deals that are “deemed good enough” for our level because our level has changed dramatically in the past 5 years.

I don’t want this club finishing with 22 losses again in 17th place this season.

Levy will fuck that up too, don’t forget that we considered signing Eze when he was at QPR and Levy didn’t pull the trigger. Even when our football people identify good talent, Levy often turns his nose up because an agency is in his ear whispering about Bryan Gil or Nkoudou.

Nah probably not

Looks like Levy gets officer Dibling like he always wanted
I don't even have faith in them to deliver that. He'd be looking to pay £20m for a teenager from the Championship, then Bournemouth or Brentford will just saunter in and take him with no fuss for 35, and we''ll spend the next 5 years admiring from afar, maybe try and tempt them with a £25m bid every now and then...

Levy being a video cassette in the digital age is the most accurate summation I think I've ever seen, guy was ahead of the game when he first came in, now he's still pissing about with his N64 whilst everyone else is balls deep in their VR headsets.

I bet he still has wet dreams about the window he picked up Lennon and Paul Robinson for £2.5m combined.

Utter fucking amateurs. Rather than clearly identifying the players we want and going out and getting them, we're now scrambling around for any old shit that fits the bill like rushing around for last-minute presents on Christmas Eve. Fucking idiots.

If Frank finishes 8th he's jumped us up 9 places in the league with a woefully under equipped squad, any fan moaning about him would be an idiot.
Squad isn't awful. Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Porro, Kudus, Sarr are all very good players. We have a decent number of players, we're just severely lacking a number 10, and depth is lacking. It's always the same thing, left short in a number of areas and forced to put up with it.

Bring Pleaty out of the retirement home today and he'd still oversee a better TW in 10 days than all the nerds we have scouring excel spreadsheets could in 10 years.

If Delaney is correct (see excerpt below), our favourite agents, CAA, MUST have known about woolwich striking "the principles of an agreement" with Palace.

They are the reps of both MGW and Eze. Levy thought he had leverage in both deals, and failed with both.

The painful line by line negotiations between Levy & Parish could be Levy's typical BS pedantry & backpedalling on earlier promises.

But I wonder if Parish was playing Levy too. All potential buying clubs allowed the release clause to expire, but it sounds as if woolwich gazzumped the deal Parish had finally worked out with Levy, and paid almost the equivalent of the old release clause, including a large portion immediately.

Was Havertz's injury the trigger for woolwich to make their move? It's unclear from the Delaney excerpt I've seen.

But the reports of how our negotiations with Palace nearly collapsed several times definitely means Parish would have been delighted to give Levy the finger and complete a more lucrative deal with woolwich in a matter of hours.

------------------------------------------

It wasn’t really a hijacking at all. The Independent can now reveal that Woolwich had actually struck the principles of an agreement with Palace as early as the morning of Sunday 10 August. They managed to keep it extraordinarily quiet, as illustrated by how it was only after Wednesday evening’s sensations that multiple sources were willing to talk about it.

There was also the fact that, in those nine days, it didn’t look like Woolwich would follow through on that agreement. The word put out was that they wanted to sell before any other purchase, and that they preferred a left winger. Interest in Eze was repeatedly played down. There had been a lot of mixed messages, which fit with the whole summer as regards Woolwich and the Palace star.

Levy might certainly feel he’s had mixed messages now. The situation has led to some surprising sympathy for the Spurs chairman within the game - if also considerable schadenfreude. Their own negotiations for Eze had encountered repeated difficulties, as first reported by The Independent on Saturday night. The problems actually preceded that. Talks almost collapsed the Thursday before, and there were constant hold-ups over issues like add-ons and how much was being paid up front. At the second when one issue was solved, another would arise.

One description over the last few days was that “the deal is both almost done and constantly at the point of collapse”. There is now a belief, especially within Spurs, that Palace were stalling. They were waiting for Woolwich to come back, since competition would mean getting a better price.

What we have to do is to imagine that we never were interested in Eze, he was nowhere on our radar. In that scenario and we bid £50million for Akliouche then we would probably be pretty pleased. Thats how we must now look at it.
We have to do the complete opposite to such childish self gaslighting and look at this as what it actually is and the greater tendencies it is part of.
