Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Looks like we’ll need to take a data-driven approach to scouting since our current setup isn’t up to the task. These are the players I believe should be on our radar. Bringing in Savinho and one of these options is probably Levy’s only chance to calm the storm.

For me Rogers is obvious top of the list, however be near impossible. I’d go for Akliouche if I’m honest.

The release clause was never an option. Do you realise what the payment terms are? Something like 50 or 60 million upfront. No club can afford that. There’s a reason both us and Woolwich had to wait until after the release clause expired for palace to entertain negotiations.

I get the anger but the amount of people with clearly no clue how these things work is crazy. Levy and the club can be blamed for being naive or being played, they can be blamed for our appalling transfer window. But they can’t be blamed for not paying the release clause and or forcing Eze to choose us over Woolwich. It’s ridiculous.

We never had a free run for Eze. Whenever we agreed a deal. Woolwich had the opportunity and the right to match it and take Eze from us and that’s exactly what they did.
Find it very difficult to pull apart anything you've posted there particular about the release clause...people's anger (and I'm incandescent) is causing mass selective amnesia completely overlooking the fact the Scum were all over this move prior to Gyokeres and Madueke to the point they were literally begging Parrish to revise the payment plan but he wouldn't budge.

What riles me most is we started a pursuit which (imo) had little chance of success yet got to the point where we had him within our grasp yet dropped it by ball watching and that’s down to the follicley challenged midget in a suit.

I agree and that’s why the club tried a risky approach for Eze and it’s backfired. Because there is little else available. It’s fucked for us fans. MGW wasn’t even the clubs fault either. Let’s be real here. This window has been a disaster for many reasons. The club has clearly tried to bring in two top quality English players and been thwarted.

As it is we are miles behind Woolwich in quality now and the gap keeps getting wider. They keep adding quality and we don’t. Same with the other teams. All we can hope is the club somehow find a way to sign two top attacking players this window or quite simply we are all fucked and so is Frank. No way we get higher than mid table with our current attacking options.

I agree with the facts but I don't agree with the tone of your post.

"Little else available", "wasn't clubs fault", "tried to bring in quality" - these are excuses.
We could and should have conducted our business much better.
And there always should be more than one suitable target AT THE SAME TIME. Meaning if MGW deal failed (for whatever reason!), then move on to next one and get this one done. Right now how that unfolded - we almost signed him. Failed. Back to drawing board. Planning, scanning, discussing from 0 again. That is amateur business and should not be excused but called out. This is pathetic incompetence.

When we have 60 mil for attacking midfielder, are you seriously suggesting that across all European top leagues there are none who would be good enough for making us better?

Don't really get what Palace were waiting for.

Glasner has been moaning for ages now about how late they were leaving everything so if Woolwich had a deal, why the pause? Either it was a deal or it wasn't. Get the money and sign replacements ASAP.

Eze could very easily do a Grealish/Pep at Woolwich/Arteta and I think would have been better off at Spurs under Frank. Equally he could make a good start and never look back.

I know y'all think he's quality (and he can absolutely be magical) but he has some major flaws in his game I think. His movement off the ball isn't A1, he can be incredibly sloppy, and while his pressing has improved greatly under Glasner I'm not sure it is of the standard big clubs chasing the top honours will demand.

He gave me the best memory of my life in May, family stuff aside, but I don't feel grief stricken he's going for about £70m.

What I don't want is Spurs to now take El Khannous rather than us. I liked the rumours (complete shite I'm sure) of Richarlison plus cash for Ebs.

I know you will want big signings, but I'm not convinced this is a disaster for you. (I'm a palace fan obviously).

" a more natural connection"
the balance thing is true, if you have wide players that are going to run with the ball you dont want the middle man to be similar, you need someone there with vision and the tendency to look for passes naturally, rather than taking too long on the ball.

a 3 behind the striker that all naturally wanna take extra touches is poor balance.

we need a 10 thats going to be similar to maddison in profile rather than someone like eze.

looking forward to watching pal put this dirty gooner cunt in row z anyway.

😱

It’s going h to be Dibling and Gundogan for a year til Kulu and Maddison are fit again and that’s Gon a be our business isn’t it.

Are we seriously to believe that we need to spend £70m ish on an attacking midfielder / winger? There must be decent options playing in other leagues that aren't commanding silly money for what would have been a £30m signing a year ago. Most of the players being bought from PL clubs at stupid money now were bought for under £20m in the not so distant past.

Mate we’re about 700 million away from being arsed about PSR and we are one of the richest clubs in Europe with a pathetic wage bill.

Why do we need to spend 30 million on a starting 10? We don’t need to skrimp like this. Fine if the best one possible is out there like that but in the age of data analysis that’s increasingly rare - the best are generally the ones the top clubs know are the best. The ones you’re talking about are the risks the smaller clubs take and that often fail.

We should be beyond that with this new stadium. 30m is what Chelsea spends on about 20 players a window as punts.

Can we just try and compete, please?
