8Om euro bid for Savinho apparently. Meeting to discuss further after game on Saturday?
Obviously not getting my hopes up, but Savinho and Paz before the end of the window will soften the MGW and Eze debacle for me.

You probably more chance of a response from positive her

It depends on how far you want to take you hypothetical. Again - legitimate reports state definitively that both Eze and Palace intentionally stalled negotiations in order to buy time for woolwich to finalize the deal.

On top of that - the text at the event, which was documented before Spurs->Eze really heated up so its not some revisionist creation.

So you could say if we offered £80M + £200kpw we could have closed the deal - sure, but it wouldn't have made sense in context to do so.

Spurs, again legitimate reports, thought we had a deal agreed in principal and were ironing out the details. There's no indication they were led to believe it was a competitive bid at that point - if you're bidding £50M+£5M in add ons and they say "£55M+£8M" why would you say "fuck it, here's £70M"? It's simply not logical.

Anyway, none of us will ever know. But I take someone who's paid to report on football more seriously than random twitter handles.
I think we're kind of talking about different time periods here.

At the moment Maddison got hurt, Woolwich had genuinely cooled on the deal, and Eze's head was turned in our direction. If we make our move aggressively at that point, it's possible that it spurs Woolwich back into action, but it seems likelier that they'd have let it go.

But once there was the purported framework of a deal but Eze still started at the weekend, Levy should have smelled the rat.

The criticism of Spurs being much less rapid and purposeful in responding to the Maddison injury than Woolwich in responding to the Havertz injury definitely has merit here.

Simon Jordon on talksport kinda said the same thing the goons were lurking. Palace knew this as did Eze and his agent …………people jumping on the “it’s Levy’s fault” bandwagon perhaps no that straightforward they were all in it to turn Levy & us over
i disagree. levy wouldn’t pay what was necessary to close the deal. that’s why eze was still playing, that’s why we got hijacked. you can say we wouldn’t overpay but sometimes overpaying is the only way to get it done. you get a chance to sign a great player who’ll transform the club you do it. not quibble over performance bonuses and deferred payments. we’re simply not an attractive destination for a lot of top players and the only way to change that is to spend and get better.

We had the chance when he was at Bristol City , he's a big Sputs fan
Yeah and when coming from Bristol City, earning a place in the Championship team of the year as a 19 year old, lots of folks on here were keen on the move.

Bournemouth move has largely been injury-riddled but I think there is a quality player, only turned 22 today.

I would be okay with bringing him in as a squad option but unfortunately with the total embarrassment we’ve been to date in this window, a move here would turn him into the latest scapegoat if he didn’t immediately perform.

i am sure that after weeks of haggling and all deals falling through, we are going to open the checkbooks and get Paz, Savinho, and Rogers. I am totally falling for it !:levywhoa:

Who knows what is rumour, truth or bullsh!t.

What is a fact is that we are still 2 or 3 players short, and that the club has had ample time to source attainable targets, and thus far has failed to do so.

Whoever is mostly at fault is secondary to rectifying the issue.

According to Ornstein we could have done the deal but our negotiations where to slow and gave Woolwich the chance to pounce after they got the Havertz injury.

Key thing to note about the timeline, we the public found out about Havertz' injury on Wednesday, but Woolwich themselves would have known Sunday after the game, Monday morning latest in terms of the extent of the injury.
