For this to be classed a superb window, where we have improved the first XI and addressed depth issues, we still need to sign a LWF, #10/CAM and cover for LCB/LB.

Takai is clearly not the LCB/LB (Frank has stopped mentioning him), and we should be all over Hincapie (if he has a release clause) . It would allow us to drop Takai, Davies and Dragusin from the CL squad without having any depth issues.

Levy has got himself into the position where it is Savio or bust at LWF. I think most of us have over inflated Savio's level a little, but ultimately he will be a barometer of success for Levy now. We need to overpay for him, probably £70m. But it is not that much more than what we paid for Ndomblele, Solanke and Richy and is what we were prepared to go to for Eze. So just do it. And quickly. I do still expect a big season from Odobert, and him and Savio as our LWFs will be great. Not sure where that leaves Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel. A sensible club might have sold (or not bought) one of them to help fund a seriously good #10 earlier in the summer.

CAM/#10 is more complex. Lots of targets mentioned, but none the complete article: Paz, Akliouche, Khannouss, Elliot. Personally, at this stage, I'd take any of the four as long as we get it done this week. Paz looks physically stronger but a little rougher around the edges than the silkier Akliouche. Can't help but feel that Khannous, might fit our needs most as more of a passer with a very high technical level, even if less developed and more potential. Also think this is the perfect opportunity to see what Donley can do with a run in the team. Get him a dozen games under his belt as the main man and maybe he'll outshine all these sexier, foreign names. What I think we need in a #10 is the equivalent of Maddison, but someone who is not made of glass. Predominantly a passer who can drop deep to help orchestrate play, whilst having the creativity in the middle and final thirds to unlock / activate our WFs.

When everyone is fit we will have serious options, but that does underline the importance ot get at least one #10 this week!

STs: Richarlison / Solanke / Tel
WFs: Kudus / Savio / Odobert / Kulusevski / Johnson / Tel / Solomon
#10s: Maddison / (one of Paz, Akliouche, Khannouss, Elliot) / Kulusevski / Kudus / Odobert

Tel was a superb example of the recruitment dead end that “he loves a deal Daniel” has led us down.
Yep. I’m sure it made perfect sense from a financial perspective and allowed an uptick in cashflow, or other balance sheet upside. Unfortunately he’s shit and plays in a position where we have around six or seven better options eg Moore, Kudus, Johnson, Kulu, Odobert, Maddison, Solomon and Richy

With Savinho, I fear we need to get it done before kick off or it doesn’t go ahead:
We win/perform well, City more reluctant to sell out of both pride and potential fear that we’re not the joke team we were last year.
We lose/get embarrassed then Savinho looks at it and thinks again about joining a bin fire!
T'is a very well thought out point...I think the exact opposite.

We need to develop Tel and see how he fares. Arguably Dibming would have made more sense. No choice now but you need to question the logic.

Tel isn't compering against some of the players mentioned. Daft.

If Savinho doesn’t go thru I wouldn’t be adverse to Mitoma even though it won’t be good “value” coz his age. Nonetheless he instantly improves us and his age might be a blessing with Moore, Odobert, LWB (not to mention Tel) all being years away from peak.

Dibling would have been a good signings if we didn’t have other kids like Odobert, Tel to develop. Good player but we need someone with immediate output.

Johnson is our main goal threat. You need to get away from raising his presence. Speaks bias. Invalidates what is a well thought out post.

Agree on Savinho and his price. High, but all fees are high, and your use here of comparable players makes sense. Yes,needs doing quickly.

We are desperate for a midfield creator. We needed one regardless of Maddison being injured. So one is hardly ideal but better than none.

I dont look to the point where we have a full set of options. Never r happens.

We are in last chance saloon for this window.

Another rumour in the Italian papers about Roma being after Odobert. I do wonder if taking small loss on him and putting the cash towards overpaying for Savinho is the correct thing to do.

Odobert is skillfull but he just seems to be a bit of a wallflower. I can’t see him ever really stamping his authority on a match the way Kudus has come in and done.

Odobert has shown a lot more than Tel though. Might be an error
