Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How the fuck are they funding this window? On pace to outspend Liverpool unless Isak goes through and so far they've made nothing this window on sales? At best they'll get £15-20m off Porto for Kiwior and the rest of their undesirables look unlikely to ship out on anything other than loans, I don't understand how they could outspend the next highest net spender by circa £100m when they've had no significant incoming from player sales in the past 3 seasons, surely this is Plettenburg putting the cart before the horse and assuming they can generate roughly £40-60m for this transfer in outgoings prior to signing off on it?
They know they have 2 or 3 players who will be sold.

Backing the manager's 5 years, including the hope their investment pays off.

Note, they have not spent stupid money.

+ Liverpool didn't spend last season AND won a bunch of money as EPL champs.

The sad thing is that we probably were in for Hincaipe but as we found out Woolwich were in for him and Ornstein was about to Bomba-we quickly got Ali Gold to put out an article saying we were never interested. We couldn't have Woolwich hijack us twice in a week. Ali Gold is the club PR man and he was instructed to quickly put that together to save face.

Fabrizio Romano is a fool who's exaggerating every story but I don't think he'd just totally make something up. I think we've been hijacked twice by Woolwich in 5 days and the club were so embarrassed by it that they had Ali Gold quickly dismiss our interest.
Then that is weak.

If both he and Savinho are seen as players that are necessary, then you dip into the next window's budget and get them. You wanna avoid the embarrassment of being gazumped twice, then do it right back.

If we get the right players now, then we don't need a big budget in the next window, as we won't need to spend.

Hincapie gives us both versatility across the backline, and also gives us a further creative outlet, as he can pick a pass, better than Romero can IMO.

Savinho further strengthens our frontline and is another creative outlet from wide. Let's face it, Brentford's creativity was heavily wing involved, so a player like him would add to the sum of our parts.

Then to complete what would be a very strong window, get in Akliouche or Khannouss, I'd even throw Daamsgard's name into the ring.

With those 3, and what we already have available, I'd say we have strength in depth in virtually all positions, so the next window, or even 2, essentially become irrelevant where "need" is concerned, but offer the opportunity for just one upgrade, if the opportunity arises.

Some clubs have this weird ambition to put themselves in a position to win the league.
Other clubs who, have a similar income stream to them prefer to, low ball for targets along with an obsession in getting the wage bill the lowest in the league.
Geographical rivals but that's it, the ambition levels between them you need a compass to locate.

Here we go again the Darkside are coming in for Hincapie and someone we were looking at but the Donkey 🫏 is once again anonymous.
Its getting to be an embarrassment for the club this Donkey we have. I’ll say this again every transfer window is the same with this hateful liar.

I think the answer is why care.
That's where I was at last week after the Eze fiasco. Then I watch an unbelievable performance against Man City where we went to the Etihad and comfortably beat them. That performance made me so proud and sucked me right back in! I want to see this team and manager backed! There is potential here to really build something and close the gap on the top sides!

My first reaction after beating City was obviously pure joy but the mad thing is it was quickly followed by anger. Anger at the fact that this squad and Frank and have been left so short. We are fine now with a mostly fit team and a week between games, but once the CL starts, the injuries stock up and we'll fall like dominos.

there was the special one, there was the chosen one, now it's time for the right one. you keep telling how great a club you are, but at the same time the solution is buying and stealing from other real clubs. stop it. back in my day Leeds, Liverpool, Woolwich and Man United didn't buy their way to success but started from a visionary coach and young committed players. now is your time. believe in the new coach, who has consciously taken over and led a championship club and their players forward, and whose best players are now sought after by many. now is the time for the right one!!

Who? Kiwior, Zinchenko and Jesus are the 3 most expendable assets in their squad rn and only Kiwior isn't being grossly overpaid his actual value in wages, so Zinchenko and Jesus are very unlikely to leave on anything other than loan to buy. They've largely jettisoned their decent saleable academy assets like Balogun, Smith-Rowe, Nketiah etc, I don't see where the £60m is coming from in their squad to fund a Hincapie and keep their net at a sensible level.

If they sign Hincapie with no significant outgoings it's over £300m net spend in one window and probably only 2 players bought actually start for them, that is stupid money.

I was wondering myself but I’ve put it down to a leader with ambition something we’ve lacked for years.

Only one of them is left sided

Hincapie specifically covers LB and LCB so frees up Spence to rotate with Porro if needed.

And with Dragusin injured, we have 3 CBs at the level to compete. It’s nowhere near good enough
It’s definitely a “nice to have” signing, but Spence can already rotate if necessary. Udogie is fit now, VDV can play there with Danso at centre back, Ben Davies would be fine there in a lot of games, Gray at a pinch…

If spending on Hincapie put a block on Savinio that is not a win for us. Same if it blocked a creative midfielder.

Ignoring the overwhelming urge to shit on our own ambitions and chairman, they still need to remain PSR compliant, that's what I'm actually questioning, it baffles me that even a club like Liverpool ran as a financially sound institution with huge worldwide marketability and more modern success than Woolwich has to load up it's outgoings column in order to finance the kind of gross spend Woolwich are now outdoing them on without any significant incoming cash generated, I understand they had a fairly lean year last year on net spend but so did Utd who have now abanoned a pursuit of Baleba which would only take their net spend to a similar level to Woolwich's if Hincapie goes there.
