Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Did he?

Or are people beginning to rewrite history?

He said he fell out with Arneson for a start, didn't mention Levy at all.
Given Arneson wanted Jol and, as it transpired, Jol was by far the better manager, I see no problem with that.
Santini managed 3 wins from his 13 league games. We were boring as fcuk as well as unable to win.

You also can't ignore the fact Santini went to Auxere for his next job, fell out with their chairman and never worked again.
Retired at age 54, absolute French king

The thing with Santini was that he thought he was brought in to have the influence over transfer business that he'd had at Lyon, but when it was clear that wasn't his role he walked away.

How that communication wasn't clearer beforehand is beyond me, but whatever.

The only manager ever employed by Daniel Levy that wasn't sacked.

What?

That is next level of braindead crap to just label everyone who have different evaluations of what the squad needs as "Levynomics fans" or whatnot.

YES we could and should spend 60-120-180 million. But fucksake, do it in the area where it has biggest impact!!!
We need a starting winger so bad. We need actually one more midfielder (box to box or deep lying playmaker) and another fullback - cause even right now we have 0 senior fullbacks to pick from bench.

We could absolutely sign a CB for 60 mil after we have added prime-aged winger, creative midfielder and a fullback. If your priorities differ, say and explain instead of braindead labelling.

You completely missed my point, being the 9th biggest club in the world and having the psr room we have then we should be able to do all of the above and not choose between one and the other.
If Vuskovic is not ready or goes out on loan then we do need a CH , we all seen what happened last yr when Romero and VDV were out.

Levynomics refers to the state of mind Levy induces with his feeble attempts at big signings to the extent we are almost happy with any signing.

You are drifting from rational to irrational.

Nothing about our club would offer safety or confidence to a player like Wirtz at present. No chance.

I won't suggest for a moment that I know of the qualities of the players who do similar to what Maddison offers, but I struggle to think we could not secure the services of one such type.

If you look at Maddison's physical frailty, the club should have been looking hard at options from the get go and not faffed about.

We have acted in a very amateurish way during this window, to the extent that you might think we were newly promoted as opposed to one of such stature.

And none of this is simply about how much we spend but our preparedness.
- I was talking about what we should do, not what's possible.

- I was talking about the players we're beeing linked to! None of us know what's available or possible. Of course thera are players out there better than Madders. But i have a hard time seeing El-Kabanoss or PEZ as that player.

Of course we should have had plans to strenghten in key areas like CB, DM, LB, AM, LW, ST, i've been saying that for over two seasons now. But that's not how this club works sadly.

Almost always the signings we get in early, are the ones most less important or pressing need.

I thought broken promises too was part of the problem.

But, glad Jol took over, that was things started to change.

Genuinely seems like our best chance is Paqueta throwing a strop and refusing to play for Potter or something. Then we can give them Bissouma and do a cut price deal

It’s very obvious that any player who’s favoured by their club and doesn’t NEED to sell won’t be coming here for anything less than a huge fee. Actually I think that’s the only chance we get Savinho too, if he kicks off and tells City he wants out.

Neither likely to happen but that’s unfortunately about the best we can do at this stage. We essentially need a club to be forced to sell.

Wouldn't hate Paqueta and Savinho tbf. With that being said I'm still convinced we get maybe one more player if we are lucky

There is zero chance Levy wouldn't have sacked Arteta in late 2021 (if not earlier) and zero chance you wouldn't have fully supported the decision.

What are you playing at?

Not sure mate. By game 10 in 21/22 they were up in 6th.

Would he have sacked Arteta for the first few games in his second season there, maybe... possibly not...

Would you have wanted him sacked after those first few games that season?

Opportunity FC strikes again here potentially, I don't see whu selling two players in one window to us.
It's the cheaper Opportunity signing that tbe club would favour though.

If we somehow came out of this window with Paqueta and Savinho I'd be absolutely chuffed!

Even if we got one of them I'd be happy now. Just need someone who improves our forward options before the window shuts.

I don’t actually think the West Ham board would allow a double sale to us.

There would be mutiny.
True but their squad is fucked they need quantity and quality.

Give them the pick of Bissouma and Solomon. Would say Davies but let him decide that.
The Spam sell two of their three good players to us, take our garbage in return, get relegated, and are playing a division below Millwall next year?
