I agree. But even worse than the amount spent is the Crap they spent the lesser amount on.
As someone else mentioned, every player on the pitch for us in our comfortable 2-0 win at the Etihad was a transfer purchase in the last 5 years.

Whereas here's the best XI of acquisitions the 5 years prior to that:

Gazzaniga
Aurier Sanchez Rodon Reguilon
Hojbjerg Wanyama Sissoko
Moura Llorente Bergwijn

Is he all that good really? I can't ever remember seeing him play, so couldn't say but those numbers don't look all that to me.
Very different player to son. More comparable to Kudus and everyone loves him.

So, we have a team that will clearly rely on the high press again this year, we have CL football so less ability to rotate, and Sarr goes to Afcon.

Every summer we seem to get this miraculous hot start when the transfer window is open but they can't seriously believe we have enough depth in this squad to be a high press team twice a week?
We should keep Bissouma to cover for Sarr?

We should keep Bissouma to cover for Sarr?

Palinha has replaced Biss already tbh

but we have no AMs fit and Sarr is absolutely vital to our press in that stand in AM role but will end up missing a massive chunk of the season. And the busiest, most hectc and demanding schedule of our season. That intensity in our press that we are all enjoying will look very different in December / January if the board do their usual and leave the squad short again.

FB will be the same btw. CB as well. And fuck know where our creativity comes from if we can't rotate Kudus and he burns out.

''Former Premier League chief Mick Brown, who ‘remains very well-connected within the game’, claims Savinho’s ‘agent has arrived’ as the player is ‘keen’ to join Spurs, ‘which is slightly surprising’.

Despite, Savinho could be ‘blocked’ from joining Spurs as Man City ‘would rather not deal with Daniel Levy’.''

There's one thing one might give credit to Levy for, which is his stand against the dodgy dealings associated with APT, as well as the problem of multi-club structures. He more or less led the group of PL clubs in giving evidence in favour of the Premier League when Man City took legal action against the APT regulations.

The state that owns Man City is not known for its attention to the rule of law, so there may well be higher-ups who want to teach Spurs a lesson by scuppering any chance of a Savinho deal.

Nothing to be done if this is the case.

Not sure what your point is , I listed the signings and outgoings of all twenty clubs, I mentioned Leeds as they had just completed another signing . Are you saying transfers are this incredibly complex negotiation , because it’s looking like several hundred will get completed in one form or another this window .

As I said it’s bollocks to make out it is such a difficult process , of course there will be exceptions but it is not the norm .

The point is it gets exponentially easier the further from the top you get. Leeds can sign ten players in a summer because they’re fishing in the 90th percentile pool of world footballers because that’s the level of footballer that improves their chances of achieving their goals , which is simply to be the 17th best team in the Premier League. At that level, there are a lot more players, who also don’t cost as much, aren’t being competed for by wealthier teams, and are more easily replaceable by the selling club.

A club like us, who I think we all agree can and should be shopping in the 98th percentile pool in order to acquire the level of player that will improve us, is going to have a much more difficult time securing transfers at that level due to scarcity and competition.

With that being said, of course as we sit here a week from the window closing, our business so far this summer is unacceptable. But comparing our business us to that of a club like Leeds is silly.

Just for fun, the five years prior to THAT:

Lloris
Trippier Vertonghen Alderweireld Davies
Parker Dier Dembele
Eriksen
Dele Son

With a significant negative net spend too. Incredible business.

I would add one extra thing: we need AM terribly cause oponent can just choose to go long and park the bus. And then even best press will be useless, so some creative magician is absolutely vital to break the seal.
